Served in the official Samuel Adams lager glass.
Appearance: Pours a light amber, with an interesting gradient to the hue. It's light at the bottom, and darker at the top. The head is a standard, fluffy white that dissipates to leave a layer of foam on top of the brew. Lacing remains on the sides of the glass.
Smell: The smell of wheat and hops seems to dominate here. There is also a floral character to the scent. The overall aroma is somewhat strong, but quite pleasant.
Taste: The initial taste is bitter and intense. As it falls over my tongue, it gives way to a sweeter malt taste, that is mixed with a general grain/wheat flavor. The finish is crisp, and it leaves a hoppy aftertaste. This is a quality pale ale. It has a strong body and distinct flavor.
Mouthfeel: There is no oily texture to this ale. It is medium in its density, and it leaves your mouth as easily as it enters. It compliments well with the intense burst of flavor that this ale has.
Drinkability: Although flavorful, these are not filling. Reaching for another one would not be a problem at all.
Recommended. Another quality beer from the Anchor Brewing Company.
