Very slight hazed golden body with a thick creamy head. Lace around the glass.
Scent is fruity and floral with a hint of fresh bread.
Taste is fruity and sweet, a dry crackery malt, and earthy bitterness. Delicate spice notes. Grapefruit in the background. Something ever so slightly sour. Melons? There's quite a lot going on here yet the overall effect is crisp and clean. Balance between sweetness and dryness is excellent. There's actually something about this beer that reminds me of champagne and of Belgian ales. Subtle understated hops presence.
Creamy, weighty mouthfeel.
Immensely satisfying and drinkable.
A classic and its not hard to see why. A little fruitier and a little less hoppy than I've come to prefer but I will certainly enjoy it again and again.
