Liberty Ale is a hazy golden ale with small particles floating in it. It is topped by a small, frothy, yellowed head that fades quickly and leaves great lacing. The aroma is loud. As soon as I open the bottle, I look around to see who's throwing grapefruit at me. This is a beer that, years ago, taught me what cascade hops were. There is a bit of light gritty grain in the background. It is medium bodied, the carbonation is slight, and it has a smooth mouthfeel. It has a very clean taste-- cascades in all their glory. It is very evenly hopped and a bit top heavy-- just the way I like 'em. I used to drink this stuff by the hogshead but it's not readily available where I am now, unfortunately. I've always kind of considered this an IPA and always used it as a bitterness benchmark of 45 IBU. Love it.
