A - Clear golden straw color with about 1/2 finger of an off-white head. Just a few streaks of lacing.

S - Very shy nose of grain with hints of citrus

T - Grain, yeast with a slight malt sweetness.

M - Clean, dry and very refreshing with moderation carbonation.

O - Very easy to drink. I love the idea behind Anchor using an old California Lager recipe.

Half a finger of head on a clear, golden colored body.
The aroma is a nice barley backbone with lemon upfront.
The taste is grain with a metallic note and moderate bitterness.
The texture is crisp with moderate carbonation.
The assertive dry bitter flavor was good except for the metallic note to it.

From the 12 fl. oz. bottle stamped with something that looks like 1-FL. Sampled on May 31, 2014.

The pour is basically light amber to pale yellow with a big white head and loads of carbonation leading up to it.

The aroma is alive with toasted biscuit, malts, sweetness, and a quick hop bite.

Light to medium body

The taste is very traditional and meets the style right on. Good malty sweetness and mild bitterness at the end. I liked it.

A: A pale golden-straw color, nice white head with good retention, leaves some lacing.

S: Aroma of grains, slightly sweet with hint of citrus.

T: taste as expected in a good lager with yeasty grains, sweet malt and finishes dry with a slight bitterness.

M: Clean & crisp mouthfeel, moderate carbonation - very pleasant.

O: Very refreshing beer. One of my favorite lagers.

On-tap at E.J. Phair. Pint

A: Served a pale golden-straw color with a finger of off-white head that faded into a fuzzy film and collar leaving streaks of thin lace down the glass.
S: Light nose with a few notes of dry grains and citrus zest. Lemon rind hops and a splash of malty sweet apple juice are in there as well.
T: Light like the nose but with more yeast character. Tastes like a light easy going lager with a few extra hops. I get a little bit of the apple cider from the nose again. The finish is clean though and not too sweet, although overall this beer is sweeter than I expected.
M: Clean and crisp mouthfeel with a light body and refreshing carbonation. Drinks very easy.
O: Definitely a refreshing beer, and probably the best light American lager I’ve had. I did thick it was a bit on the sweet side, but I’m splitting hairs.

On tap at The Surly Goat in West Hollywood, CA.

First thing's first. I am thrilled to finally try this one after reading about it a while back and also for being the first review.

Pours a clear orange with a bone colored head that settles to a film on top of the beer. Thick streaks of lace form around the glass on the drink down. Smell is of malt, grain, and some herbal hop aromas. Taste is much the same with some citrus zest flavors coming out as well. There is a mild bitterness on the palate with each sip. This beer has a lower level of carbonation with a slightly crisp and medium bodied mouthfeel. Overall, this is a good beer with a very interesting concept behind it.

I Picked this up at Whole foods in Fremont, CA, enjoyed chilled in a goblet.

The color is resplendent golden with quick moving bubbles of small carbonation rising to a thick collar of off white foam with fine bead, lace clings in a thick film with great retention. The smell is faintly floral with a yeasty almost skunky aroma but it has a good amount of malt in the smell along with a mild pine/pepper hop odor it has the slight sweet aroma combined with a czech pils yeast accent. The feel is great moderately bitter with a good amount of carbonation and slight sweet back note with clean and dry body with moderately full feel for the strength.

The flavor is very good, hops dominate with a slight pine-like bitter quality but sufficient malt is there to taste with slight sweet and toasted grain flavor, the yeast kind of hampers the taste with some floral hops coming in toward the finish with mostly dry pilsner malt quality adding to the overall perception. I like this but was not expecting anything and it is pretty drinkable for the style so for the 1.75 price I think this is a pretty decent beer if you like pale lagers with some hop flavor.

A - Served a clear golden-orange color with a bit of frothy white head. The head faded down at a normal pace leaving behind some lacing.

S - Aroma is a mix of grains and some sweet malt with some lemon peel, a touch of citrus hop, and some lager esters.

T - Starts off with a mix of sweet grains with a bit of bready malts and some lemon peel. Through the middle, a bit more citrus fruits come through with a bit more bready malts. The finish is a mix of sweet grains and malts with some light hop and a bit of lager yeast.

M - Medium bodied with moderate carbonation. Feels smooth with a crisp and dry finish.

D - Very drinkable. Nicely balanced and very crisp.
