Notes/Commercial Description:
BigLeaf Maple Autumn Red is a quaffable, well-balanced red ale with character. Its malty complexity and coppery color come from a combination of two caramel malts, pale malt, and a hint of maple syrup. To complement these flavors, we used three additions of Nelson Sauvin hops in the brewkettle and a unique blend of Nelson Sauvin, Citra, and Cascade for dry hopping. The result is a distinctive fall seasonal with extraordinary depth and intriguing aroma.

Poured from a code dated 12 oz. bottle: clear, reddish and copper color with a sustained, fluffy off-white head.

I was a little surprised and very pleased by the aroma: sweet and syrupy malt with a very nice resinous hop aroma.

The flavor begins with a solid malty base with an unexpected yeasty, bready flavor. The lingering piney hop flavor balances the ale nicely and keeps it refreshing. As the ale warms, the soft and malty profile begins to dominate.

The body is medium with a flavorful but slightly thin mouthfeel. The carbonation is restrained with a pleasant semi-sweet lingering bitterness.

Regardless if you can really taste maple syrup, this is a quaffable and uniquely flavored ale. It was good enough to consider purchasing another six pack before the season is over.

12oz brown bottle with a freshness code.

Amber hue, slightly hazed with a tiny bubbled sudsy lacing that sticks around for a while. Soft resiny hops, hint of maple, toasted bread, light stone fruit, and some earthiness in the nose. Smooth, toasted maltiness, orangey hops, hint of maple, mild peppery hop bitterness, bread crust, semi-dry finish with toasted grain, hop resin and faint maple in the end.

A fine fall time brew here, well balanced and easy to drink. Could certainly go for more than one.

12 oz bottle, marked 3LQ, served in lager glass.

Looks great: deep red-amber (light copper) body with a large semi-creamy, light tan head that leaves plenty of lacing and has very good retention. High clarity with fine-grained carbonation bubbling.

Aroma: surprisingly sharp and strong hop note, considering the style. Sweet caramel with a hint of maple.

Flavor: odd sweet-bitter balance that seems to swing back and forth from bitter to sweet but is overall mildly bitter. Decent malt complexity. Unfortunately, only a faint hint of maple syrup.

Feel: Medium-full with excellent, soft carbonation. Very creamy for style.

This pours a lovely red with a 2 finger head of foam.

It smells balanced. Nice hoppy aromas with ample malt backing it up.

Taste wise, it's not as balanced as the smell as the bitter hops are very assertive. I do have to say the malt is well done and I do get hints of maple.

A very pleasurable mouthfeel.

This is a solid brew for the autumn season and it's very easy to drink.

Pours into a standard pint glass a clear rich amber with a large fluffy slight off white head that settles very slowly into a frothy mass.Mainly nutty malts in the nose alog with lighter biscuit sweetness and citric hops.More dry on the palate than I was expecting,earthy/nuttiness with some biscuit malt, the maple is lightly detected,leafy/herbal hops in the finish. Not a bad little beer,it's not a big hopped up amber but has nice malty flavors with just enough hops.

Appearance: amber red with gold highlights an a puffy off white head, great clarity

Aroma: sweet caramel, maple syrup, brown sugar, toasted bread,

Taste: malty, with brown sugar and caramel sweetness with a hint of maple syrup on the finish. Some definite bitterness on the finish to balance

Mouthfeel: crisp like a fall day, medium-high carbonation, medium body

Overall: Really good. A great seasonal beer for the fall showcasing brown sugar, caramel, toasted bread, and maple syrup notes that are all balanced by some moderate bitterness on the finish
