For an AIPA just a slight taste of hops, good choice for a not too strong sider (79 characters)

On-tap at Cafe Belgie, Utrecht, Netherlands

A: The beer is clear amber orange in color and has the faintest hints of carbonation. It poured with a dense off white head that died down, leaving wispy lacing on the surface, a collar around the edge and lacing down the sides of the glass.
S: Aromas of citrusy and spicy hops are present in the nose along with caramel malts.
T: The taste is similar to the smell and has hints of malty sweetness along with a complex mixture of hop flavors and a light to moderate amount of bitterness.
M: It feels medium-bodied and a little smooth and crisp on the palate with a moderate amount of carbonation.
O: The beer is a very nice and refreshing Dutch version of an IPA that seems a little maltier compared to American counterparts and is well balanced. (795 characters)

Deep golden colour, near to orange. Small head that leaves a good ring and lace. Smell of cloves, spices, tropical fruits, pomelo. Medium body, fizzy carbonation, dry palate. Taste of clove, tropical fruits, pomelo, spices. Bitter finish. Good. (244 characters)

Fine pored, creamy white head. Opalescent dimmish appearance. Medium amber color. Fresh smell, floral-hoppy, a slight scent of caramel or honey. Taste of fresh grapefruit peel, hoppy, slightly smokey, spicy, some licorice. Creamy carbonation, well-balanced, hoppy, bitter, slightly sweet and lingering finish with a fruity note. Overall a nice IPA with a less fruity, but more caramellized style. The Dutch way to make an American IPA. (435 characters)

Got this one from Bert's Bierhuis in Utrecht. This is a Utrecht brewery that's been gaining popularity here, and rightly so. Most of their beers haven't quite been to my liking, but this one is definitely solid.

APPEARANCE: Pours a two finger, medium-loose, fluffy white head with good retention. Perfectly clear gamboge orange with medium levels of carbonation. Head fades to a faint wisp with carbonation bubbles decorating the top. A splotchy wisp remains leaving some nice lacing down the glass.

SMELL: Pale malts, light caramel and toffee, some citrus notes, floral notes, as well as some grapefruit on the nose. Pretty good.

TASTE: Pale and grainy malts up front, some caramel sweetness, into a hoppy and spicy finish. Bitter floral hops, some spicy yeasty notes, as well as some caramel sweetness lingers mildly on the palate. Mild finish, but lingers.

PALATE: Medium body and slightly higher levels of carbonation. A bit too much perhaps. Despite that, it's really, really creamy and smooth going down, finishing slightly dry. A bit overcarbonated, but fuller and really creamy smooth.

OVERALL: A solid effort from Maximus. Most of their beers are lack luster at best, but this one is solid. I wish it were more fruity as opposed to spicy, but that's personal taste and I could imagine a lot of people disagreeing. Solidly made, and much more enjoyable out of the fridge, as this one was consumed. (1,483 characters)
