0.5 L Dark brown Fliptop bottle. Best before date on top label.
Served in a Weihenstaphen fluted glass.
Pours a hazy golden color with a white varietal-sized bubbly head, along with some trailing lace.
The first smell is grassy malt, with fast-approaching metallic and citrusy hop nose. A light smell of sulfur (hard water?) rolls in a hangs around.
This is a hop-forward lager with a complex citrus, metallic and resinous bite. The hoppiness is supported by a bready and grassy malt. A faint peppery spiciness adds a bit of depth. The flavors blend and balance quite nicely and the sweetness becomes more apparent late in the glass.
It’s great to sample of a small local brewery’s version of a Northern German Zweickle Bier
