If I hadn't had stenciled pages, this might be my favorite unfruited american siaison.

750 mL bottle poured into a snifter.

Appearance - Clear yellow body. Small white head. Thin white head.

Smell - Citrus. White wine. Lemon and a light orange. Very nice.

Taste - White wine is strong here too. More prominent than the citrus. Sweetness permeates. Oak. Grain flavor in the back end, but white wine lingers.

Mouthfeel - Medium carbonation. Medium body.

Overall - This is pretty nice. Smells a little brighter than it tastes, though.

Thanks to rudzud.

Light fizzy head covering fades at med pace, hazy blond color.

Nose great, nice saison funk, light bready saison wheat notes, light Brett funk, light, light green apple skin, light funk, green skin funk, etc. Little citrus tangerine peach like, apricot, generic stone fruit.

Taste is tart fruity peach apricot like, sour tartness, lemony star burst notes, candy tart sweetness, flemmy funk, south wheat creamy feel, lemon tartness. Finish is drier but flemmy tartness lingering, lemongrass, little stone fruit, tart, etc.

Mouth is med bod, decent carb.

Overall very nice saison.

750ml bottle. Poured into a Side Project stemmed glass 10/4/2014.

A- Light blond body, clear with a nicely effervescent head. Good retention, nice lacing. [4]

S- Brett funk, lemon zest, nice bit of oak, bread, spicy wheat, a bit of apple skin, even a bit of stone fruit. [4.25]

F- Stone fruit, lemon zest, oak, bread, dry Brett funk without too much mustiness or leather. Very nice. [4.25]

M- On the softer side of medium body, nicely carbonated, soft and velvety feel for a saison. Finish is dry and tart citrus. Very nice. [4.25]

O- Very nice saison, one of the better ones I've had, but it's no BA Cellarman. [4.25]

Final score: 4.24

Split with JLindros and Threelions.

A - Poured into a Kate the Great tulip a nice slightly hazy golden hue with some thin head and light halo.

S - Aromas of oak, funk, lemons, berries, sour tart, citrus, vinous, wow.

T - Taste is lemon starburst, candy, funk, sour lemons, tart, grassy. Really tart, not super sour but really nice. Awesome barrel notes and saison, yeah, this is a phenomenal saison.

M - Mouthfeel is lightly carbonated, crisp, clean.

O - Overall this beer was very drinkable and pleasant, awesome beer with nice barrel notes, super vinous notes, awesome funk. Love it.

Straw yellow with minimal carbonation or sediment, but definitely hazy towards the bottom of the bottle. The nose is light starfruit and citrus notes upfront (lemon and grapefruit) with a hint of barnyard - overall it's a pretty subtle nose, more intense with the dregs. The flavor is similarly refined with a big grain presence, a tart citrus flavor, and some yeast. This is a really light-bodied and drinkable beer, quite refined, with a dry, citrus finish. This is a great beer, lighter bodied than expected, but still full flavored

Bottle into SARA tulip.

Appearance is light gold in color, surprisingly clearer body but certainly not a filtered appearance (this baby sat upright for a good month and I carefully poured it so I'm expecting the bottom half of the bottle to be hazier). Small white head typical of barrel aged Saisons.

Aroma is light grasses, flowers, white wine, oak, overripe pineapple, tangelo, strawberry, and soft banana-like esters. Maybe a touch of phenolic white pepper.

Taste is more citrus forward with a juicy Meyer lemon punch, soft tangerine bite, and key lime twist. White wine comes in briefly as does a little pineapple and some mineral/musty brett funk. Grassy and orange pith like aftertaste linger.

The mouthfeel on this is all about that barrel aged saison. Lower end carbonation that maintains some beautiful scrubbing action, crisp and light mouthfeel that doesn't feel to thin, and superbly dry with a great tartness middle of the palate.

So this here is a lovely blended barrel aged saison. Lots of citrus and barrel influence with some tropical fruit notes and just the right amount of yeasty by-product funk. Easy to drink, complex yet so integrated you'd mistake it for being more simple. As long as there's Saisons like these around to drink, I can't complain about what's in the fridge one bit.
