750ml bottle of batch 2. Poured into a mini-snifter 4/26/2014.
A- Light and hazy straw-yellow coloured body, two finger white head with great retention, some lacing. Looks like spritzy lemonade.
S- Smells acidic- vinegar, a bit of lactic acid although less than what I have experienced in other Berliner Weisses in the past. Lemon zest, citrus flavours dance in my nose. Not super complex, but smells very refreshing.
F- Palate cleansing acidity, perhaps 5/10, mixed in with citrus flavours evoking orange, lemon and lime. A little bit of lactic acidity, and a strong wheat character that could have fooled me into thinking this was a soured hefeweizen. I would have liked some more lactic yogurt flavours to add some more complexity, but this is still very good.
M- Medium bodied, a bit on the thin side. Great palate cleanser, as the finish is a nice dry, lemon zest acidity. Very refreshing, the epitome of the berliner weiss drinking experience.
O- Very refreshing Berliner; not the most complex or interesting. I have to imagine that adding fruit to this would get this up to the next level, though.
