Had on tap at brewery. Very good coffee porter. Thought vanilla was present as an appropriate accent...didn't overwhelm the coffee or porter malts and hops. Strictly a matter of personal taste but found the coffee chosen/used a bit over roasted that added a bite and bitterness that I found somewhat unpleasant. But beer itself was an excellently made porter.

Pours black with a half finger dark tan head of tight bubbles that recedes pretty quickly to a ring. Aroma is all fresh cold brew coffee just exploding out of the glass. Taste is coffee and sweet vanilla with milk chocolate sweetness. Simply delicious. I would drink this every day.

Pours jet black. Single finger tan head. Nose is a huge punch in the face of coffee. Outstanding. Taste is coffee first followed by hints of vanilla and chocolate. Medium carb adds to a creamy feel. Overall, an excellent coffee porter.

Wonderful aromas of cookie dough, vanilla, cola and a touch of cocoa. Taste seems to want a touch more malty sweetness the vanilla seems very subtle. Mouthfeel could be a little fuller and texture could be creamier (not much lacing). The smell sure does kick butt though

As I'm selecting my numbers for my rating I realize they are high.
But as I play the beer back in my head, nose and mouth, it's worthy.
Enjoyed a half-pour today at the brewery.
Look was everything you would expect...deep dark brown with a nice creamy head.
You didn't even have to get that close and the smell of coffee hit the nose and I knew it was on.
The coffee, along with a bit of vanilla, greeted my tongue and mouth with open arms and I know I muttered "Damn this is good" more than a few times.
For the style, it seemed thicker than most porters I've drank, so it was almost a stout consistency.
Just a damn good beer all around. Would really love to try a BA version of this.

If you're a fan of fresh aromatic local cold brewed coffee look no further: this is your beer. On draft at SARA-I don't believe they ever bottle this one. No growlers either. Tim says they brew this almost everyday and the vanilla beans are added by hand and it shows.

L: black with light brown and a thin layer of creamy white head.
S: utterly divine fresh coffee grounds with a hint of sweetness. I don't know from where but it is local to the Santa cruz area. Not the least bit offensive as some coffee beers can be. Possibly the most aromatic coffee scent I've experienced in a beer. Opens up as I swirl my glass.
T: decadent roasty smooth with subtle vanilla. I'm told there's some batch variation and some kegs have differing amounts of vanilla. I would prefer more but it's definitely present. Not the least bit medicinal or artificial as some vanilla porters can be. They use whole vanilla beans.
F: a bit on the thin side. A fuller body would be nice. This on cask or nitro would be ridiculous. Definitely true to the style.
O: one of the best coffee beers I've had to date. If you are a fan of the style make the trip to SARA. World class.

Outstanding for 6.8 abv. Tons of coffee almost like a real cup on the taste. Coffee, vanilla dominant on smell with a chocolate and marshmallow finish. Mouthfeel is thin but solid for the abv.

Pours black with a small light brown head. The head lasts quite awhile and leaves some nice designs on the walls of the glass. The aroma is big on coffee and vanilla. Sweet and richer than expected. Some nice milk chocolate, cocoa. The taste stays well away from anything resembling artificial. Drier than it smells but not harsh. Very well integrated coffee and vanilla. Coffee is probably the dominant flavor. Full mouthfeel. I'm not normally a big fan of vanilla stouts/porters (because they're typically disappointing), but this is excellent. Great coffee flavor with wonderful vanilla.

On tap at the brewery. This batch was made with Verve's Street Level espresso and vanilla beans.

Opaque dark brown body with a surprisingly long-lasting head for a coffee beer. Huge coffee presence on the nose, and extremely high quality coffee at that. It has an earthy, chocolatey character without any harshness. Vanilla pops out more as the beer warms, balancing out the intensity of the coffee a bit. Coffee is dominant on the palate as well. It tastes fresh and vibrant, and works well with the semi-dry, medium-bodied base porter. Vanilla lends a hint of sweetness. Unsweetened cocoa and roasted malt from the base beer come through nicely in the finish. This is a coffee beer done right, very good stuff.

On tap at the brewery. Pours blackish brown with a light-tan head. Aroma is lovely creamy vanilla with white sugar and mild chocolate. Flavor is so smooth with heaps of sweet vanilla, a light coffee influence (much more subdued than Joe Chavez), and a nice chocolate rye finish. Mouthfeel really benefits from the Belgian fermentation, making it really creamy.
