Canned in 3/14/23; consumed on 5/1/23
Pours a ruddy, brownish-cola body topped with multiple fingers of fluffy, pale sand-hued foam; solid head retention yields a slim cap and thin, frothy collar as a chunky walling of webby lacing coats the walls of the glass.
Aroma opens to mild coffee easing into sweet, floral vanilla with soft, roasty undertones as hints of cocoa find edges of malty char and caramel lingering across the bouquet.
Taste brings tinges of smoke into baked caramel with a pointed, mineralic underscore; floral, vanilla sweetness lingers through the mid-palate into mild coffee roast to finish.
Mouthfeel offers a body on the lighter end of medium and a taut fluff of moderate carbonation phasing into crispness, with quasi-flaky textures remaining taut as a subdued, roasty grit eventually gives way to a clean dryness toward the finish.
Airy adjunct profile highlights vanilla as coffee roast over-integrates to passivity, leaving a forward sweetness coating more delicate, covertly roasty chocolate malts while remaining deceptively drinkable.

Sampling a cellar temp 16 oz can poured into a snifter. Canned on date 11/23/2021.
The beer pours a deep cola brown color with fluffy khaki colored head of 2 cm foaming up and fading to a clinging edge layering with tight lattice on the glass.
Aroma is some roasted malt and coffee grounds, a little of the green pepper note that coffee can sometimes impart on a beer. I dont get any hops nor any booze on this beer. The vanilla is barely present, buried in the background of this beer.
The first sip reveals a medium to light body with gentle spacious carbonation and a silky smooth texture. The beer drinks easy.
Flavor is roasted malt and some coffee grounds with a bit of sweetener. There is a bit of dark chocolate mixed in with the beer and this is the flavor that lingers on the swallow. I never get much vanilla and no booze either. AS expected the hops dont really show through on the flavor profile. This is an easy drinking porter with decent coffee and chocolate character. The vanilla is absent for me, but its still a good malt forward beer.

On draft at the og capitola location. Insane nose of fresh coffee, taste is beautiful silky refined vanilla with some cacao and smooth coffee. Finish is slightly cola like, incredibly smooth and drinkable. I could crush these which is rare for a stout.

Sweet vanilla coffee bean nose on this one! Taste follows well with subdued vanilla notes and a prominent black coffee bitter bite. A little thin on the palate...expecting more vanilla.
