I was hyped to hear that a new nanobrewery was opening in Capitola, and after some delays I have to say that they exceeded my expectations. Tim and Adair are really nice people who put their hearts into making something special, and it shows. Even though the place is tiny (seats about 16 or so), it has a nice open ambiance with good music always playing and simple decorations highlighting the raw ingredients used in the brewing process. 6 taps as of now, with the lineup always changing but all their creations are loosely Belgian/farmhouse inspired and delicious. Make sure to try the Brewer's Beard and Nonna's Blend if possible, and look out for bottles to hit the local markets soon. A great start for a great local brewery making unique and tasty beers!

Entered the address into the nav and was certain that it was going to send me driving into somebody's back yard. We twisted through neighborhoods and finally into an unassuming set of buildings housing service businesses. And then there was SARA. Unlike everywhere else in Capitola, there was ample parking. Going in, that was one of our big concerns, because traffic and parking in the rest of the town really are terrible. So this was a big win.

Entered the small bar area and were happy to see one open barrel table, which we grabbed. The noise from the late afternoon crowd was comfortably buzzing, not overwhelming. We were disappointed that they were out of their 831 IPA, so had a half-fill of the DIPA and a full-fill of the cracked wheat stout. Both were very good. They had about a half dozen beers on tap and a couple bottles were available. I wouldn't say prices are a steal, but they were reasonable.

This isn't something that the owners really can control, but I'm not wild about having bunches of kids running around when I'm trying to enjoy a chill brewery taproom experience. The two don't go together in my mind and I find myself constantly wondering what kind of memories these kids are going to have in 10 years about their childhood. People: take your kids to the park or down to the beach. Take them for a walk or a fun drive along the coast. Having other people's kids looking sad and bored at me while their parents socialize and basically ignore them stresses me out. We have found that these brewery children are a staple of NorCal breweries, so I would love to encourage more kid-UNfriendly breweries.

No food. I always think that nuts, pretzels and chips would be a no-brainer, so I don't get why a place like this doesn't offer them.

I definitely recommend visiting. The brewers clearly take great care and pride in the quality of their beers.

Our second stop-off on the way down to SD. I have loved all of the beers I have had from SA so I was really looking forward to checking out their home base. We got there right after they opened and were able to snag a barrel table in the side room. It quickly filled up with lots of people, and about five dogs which was a little weird but whatever. Quality was quite high all around. Lots of nice materials used in the space and all of the beers treated with the highest of care. Service was solid. Tim greeted us as soon as we walked in, I had told him the night before at an event I was stopping in so it was a nice touch. As far as bar service, I didn’t have to wait very long for my beers when I was empty. Selection was great, 8-9 beers on including a special cask. Wish I could have gotten some bottles, I guess they ran out the day before so that sucked. Prices were good all around so no problems there. Overall an awesome brewery that I would definitely make my regular choice if I lived in the area, glad we could make the side trip to check it out.
