Re-review with a more recent bottle.
Bottled Jan 31, 2012
Beer is a cloudy golden/orange colour with a very large and frothy white head. Great retention- head stays FOREVER. Lots of lacing.
Smell is lovely- typical Belgian scents with lots of hops. Grassy, yeasty and some citrus. Other fruit is present as well- orange, a bit of green apple, other light fruit scents. Honey. Wonderful!
Taste is also wonderful. The fruit flavours from the nose are prominent and very nice, but their sweetness is cut somewhat by the bitterness from the hops, as well as some spice flavours. Hops add some nice grassy tastes, citrus, a bit of soap. Finish is moderately bitter. Lots going on and it is all good.
Beer is very carbonated, even for the style. Somewhat irritating. As the beer sits and calms down a bit, the feel certainly improves. Full bodied, a bit oily.
This is a really fantastic beer. Really enjoyable. Maybe my favourite Canadian beer. A gem!

750 ml bottle into chalice, bottled on 1/31/2012. Pours slightly hazy medium golden amber color with a 1-2 finger dense and fluffy off white head with fantastic retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lasts. Thick foamy lacing clings on the glass, with a moderate amount of streaming carbonation. Fantastic appearance. Aromas of big lemon, orange, grapefruit, peach, pear, pineapple, apricot, mango, melon, passion fruit, citrus peel/zest, peppercorn, clove, pine, honey, candi sugar, white bread dough, and biscuit; with lighter notes of toast, banana, bubblegum, herbal, floral, wood, grass, and yeast earthiness. Damn nice aromas with great balance and complexity of citrus/tropical/earthy hops, fruity/spicy yeast, candi sugar, and pale malt notes; with big strength. Taste of big lemon, orange, grapefruit, peach, pear, pineapple, apricot, mango, melon, passion fruit, citrus peel/zest, peppercorn, clove, pine, honey, candi sugar, white bread dough, and biscuit; with lighter notes of toast, banana, bubblegum, herbal, floral, wood, grass, and yeast earthiness. Light-moderate pepper/clove yeast spiciness; and pine, herbal, floral, woody, grassy bitterness on the finish. Lingering notes of lemon, orange, grapefruit, peach, pear, pineapple, apricot, mango, melon, passion fruit, citrus peel/zest, peppercorn, clove, pine, honey, candi sugar, white bread dough, biscuit, toast, banana, bubblegum, herbal, floral, wood, grass, and yeast earthiness on the finish for a while. Fantastic complexity, robustness, and balance of citrus/tropical/earthy hops, fruity/spicy yeast, candi sugar, and pale malt flavors; with a great malt/bitter/spiciness balance; and no cloying/astringent flavors after the finish. Fairly crisp finishing. Light-moderate increasing dryness from lingering bitter/spiciness and carbonation. Medium-high carbonation and medium-full body; with a very smooth and moderately creamy/bready/grainy/sticky balanced mouthfeel that is great. Minimal warming alcohol for 10%. Overall this is a fantastic hoppy Belgian strong pale ale. All around fantastic complexity, robustness, and balance of citrus/tropical/earthy hops, fruity/spicy yeast, candi sugar, and pale malt flavors; very smooth and dangerously easy to drink for the big ABV, with the modestly bitter/spicy/drying finish. Great Amarillo, Simcoe, and Saaz profile. Fantastic balance of juicy/earthy hops, Belgian yeast, candi sugar, and pale malts. Light residual sweetness with crisp drying. Very well attenuated, and not overly sweet/heavy for the ABV. A highly enjoyable offering, and spot on style example. This aged wonderfully. Very well attenuated, and not overly sweet/heavy for the ABV.

From a 750ml bottle served at 17 degrees Celsius into a chalice. The beer has spent a handful of months in the bottle – the date reads 19.01.2017
Look: Excellent appearance. The beer pours a clear gold with two and a half fingers of persistent, dense, white head that settles to a cap within six minutes. Beautiful lacing.
Smell: Well-balanced and medium intensity with citrusy hops and Belgian yeast character. Medium esters (apples and banana) as well as clove-like, peppery phenols. Faint pale malts and wheat.
Taste: Very much like the aroma but bolder. Strong, well-balanced, and hop-forward with Belgian yeast. Citrusy (lemon), floral, and spicy hops. Estery apple and banana as well as clove-like, peppery phenols. Faint pale malts with additional subtle wheat and caramel notes. The finish is medium-dry, though quite lengthy, and towards the bitter side.
Feel: Very pleasant - medium body with lively carbonation. Drying, warming, creamy, and somewhat prickly.
Overall: A great example of a Belgian IPA with dominating hops, esters, and spicy phenols. The alcohol is well-hidden which makes this very drinkable. All aspects of the beer demonstrate excellent craftsmanship. Definitely a sensory experience worth having. I'm sure I'll buy this again when it becomes available.

In no way is this as good as indicated by the ratings. Yes, it is a decent Canadian version of the style, but it is still just "a" version. Way too carbonated and is it ever silly expensive for a domestic!
Nonsense. Try it once and then move on.
