Very cool place with one of the best selections I've seen in the states. Very friendly bouncer/doorman who keeps a mean count on the patrons inside, so the fire marshall would be proud. Open air, which can be a bit hot in the summer, but a cold beer solves all those problems. Great decor with the maps & books around. Probably the best service I've ever had anywhere. Walk up to the bar when the place is at capacity and you'll still get a bartender's attention within 30 seconds and be sipping within another minute or so. Don't know what you want? No problem. I told the bartender my style preference and he returned with three choices. Did I mention that this is while they were at capacity? Amazing. No food at all, but they have a host of delivery menus & have a great "buy two beers and get free grub from the sponsoring restaurant" night. Very friendly, too crowded (no offense to the doorman!), and a memorable evening all around. Got an evening in Chicago? Find this place. It's worth the cab fare.

Opens at 6am for coffee and pastries. Starts serving beer at 11am. This place is absolutely lovely during the day with open windows during nice days. I, personally, avoid the weekends and nights. Too many amatuers. World class beer list and a very nice staff.
