"What kind is it ?" she asked. Choppy waters I thought , we were at the campfire playing Truth or Dare , and as always the fool , I chose Truth. "You know I'm sworn to secrecy but I will say this "This beer reminds me of that time we had in Vienna , the warm evenings , the music , the red lights" I trailed off. "That's a load of sweet nuthin" She smiled "Dare! "

650ml bottle. Awesome to see this (AND a few others) in a tiny liquor store in the slice of BC we're stopping off in, on the way to the good ol' US of A for a long-overdue summer vacation.
This beer pours a rather clear, medium copper amber hue, with three fingers of puffy, tightly foamy, and mildly bubbly off-white head, which leaves some chunky approaching weather system lace around the glass as it slowly bleeds out of sight.
It smells of bready, biscuity pale malt, a nice caramel sweetness, some doe-eyed apple and citrus fruit esters, ethereal hints of campfire smoke (though that could just be the label's hipster ministrations), and plain earthy, leafy, and herbal hops. The taste is more bready, lightly doughy caramelized malt, a reduced, but hardly out of the game biscuity toffee character, a rather muddled light orchard fruitiness, subtle wet ash, and a continuation of the herbal, grassy, and leafy hop bitterness from the aroma.
The bubbles are good and plentiful (don't want to get sued or anything here) in their lilting frothiness, the body an adequate middleweight, and mostly smooth, the local hops pretty much stand-up guys, if you know what I mean. It finishes off-dry, the kind of faltering caramel picked up and dusted off by those very same noble (heh) hops.
Overall, a more or less stellar offering, with strong ESB connotations, despite the lager heritage. The only fly in the proverbial ointment is a certain dissociation amongst the fanboys out there. I mean really, what is so hard to correlate here concerning the proclaimed 'red lager' denomination on the label?
