I agree, has a little more malt than expected, but I like that. Kinda like the tannins giving structure to wine. Could have been a little less malty and a little more in the citrus hops. I am a fan of Dogfish Head 90, and while Hop Geek was not quite as well organized, I was immediately reminded of that great brew from Delaware. I will certainly buy this again and since Perkasie is pretty close by, I know I can always find it.

Pours a dark amber body beneath the tannish head which is slow to dissipate leaving a sticky lacing about the top of the beer and glass.

Aroma is very malty for an Imperial IPA, caramel sweetness, but also earthy and what I assume to be citrus hops. The challenge with deciphering the citrus hop variety is that the malt overshadows it a bit, but it seems like blood orange, or very sweet along those lines.

The flavor is similar, quite a bit of malt, very sweet - caramel, maybe toffee and a touch of biscuit. The hops are spicier on the palate, still earthy, and again some citrusy sweetness in there.

This is a full bodied brew, coating the palate with generous carbonation to add and a thick finish.

Perhaps a touch on the malty side for my liking and the style in my opinion. Not a bad beer, just not the hop bombs American DIPA's are appreciated for.

Appearance: pours a dark hazy orange color with a 1/4" head that breaks down immediately.

Smell: grapefruit and earthy tones are up front but not as pleasant as I would like.

Taste: caramel, grapefruit, mango, earthy bitterness, and a bit of warming alcohol. The flavors are a bit unbalanced.

Mouhtfeel: medium bodied beer. Crisp to start, less crisp and dry at the finish, Long lasting aftertaste.

Overall: a DIPA that is a bit unbalanced and too focused on bitterness levels.

Poured into a chalice, color is dark amber, opaque, head is tan, pretty dense and presents somewhat thick 1/2 inch.

Smell is a little sweet, caramel, toast, big off flavor from the hop, metallic/earthy but unpleasant and detracting.

Taste is follows suit to the nose, cloying sweet, hop off flavors: malt is all caramel, too sweet for a strong ipa, hops dont come through well or pleasant.

Moutfeel is very cloying, sweet, strong lingering presence from the sweetness and hop combination.

Overall, a strong ipa that is not well executed, flavors seem off and mouthfeel is cloying.

This is a good hoppy brew. It tastes nearly identical to crooked line's Detour IPA, which I am also a fan of. Very hoppy and slight fruity...appley.... at first, with a finish that tastes more than its abv rating. This warming feel is perfect for the cold weather on the East Coast. The only bad note is the aftertaste... its almost medicinal or vitamin like.
Overall I would imbibe again.

Pours a muddy brownish copper with a half finger of head that dissipated very quickly. The malt notes dominate the hop notes in the nose. The flavor profile is malt forward as well. This offering is full-bodied with a sticky mouthfeel. The alcohol comes on during the finish; the alcohol warmth is not terribly bad, but it is not terribly good either.
