This was my first stop in my annual brewpub tour (really brew... anything) and a good choice in my opinion.
This start is quite lean and really just fills growlers and samples.
I bought a growler of thier pale stout, its so good. And a conversation point since it looks like a brown ale.
Pours pale in comparision to a stout, looks like a brown with it's clear brown clarity. Has a pretty dense tan head on top leaving some lacing.

Aroma finds a roasted malt bill with hints of cocoa powder.

Taste is quite good. has a good robust, roasted malt taste and a dark chocolate backing.
Smooth flowing on the palette with some bitterness lingering into a roasted chocolate aftertaste.
A very good beer in a style of beer not made since the days of yur.
interesting to gaze upon, smells good and taste good. An excellent beer.

I was happy to find this on-tap at Liberty St Tavern and ordered a couple pints at $5 each. This was a tasty, lighter-bodied brown with a bigger roasted edge over the coffee and cocoa. It's definitely a step down from an Irish dry stout, but more roasty than your average brown. The malt is very clean, with just enough bitterness to balance the barley and give a dry finish. It's a tasty, sessionable beer. Give it a try if you can find it.

Enjoyed at Lee Shelly's photo studio during a headphone/amplifier meet, so geeks with very expensive audio toys and beer....yeah, it was just about perfect.

Pulled a bottle out of the big bin of beer and saw a pale stout. Hmmm, that's different.

Overall a very solid lighter stout, some characteristics of an Irish Stout (dry), with great smell and flavor of toasted malts and coffee. Mouthfeel was a bit thin, but this is a great session "stout" or brown ale as they categorize it. Could drink them all day, even in the heat of August it wouldn't be a problem, just a nice, flavorable brew.

Sampling a cellar temp bottle poured into a snifter. The beer pours a frothy eggshell white head of 3 cm even with a gentle pour. The head fades fairly quickly leaving some windowpane lattice. Fades to a wispy surface layer that sticks around through the sampling.
Aroma is rich and malty, with bakers chocolate, some brown sugar and toffee. No hops or booze notes on the nose. Maybe a little chalky scent mixed in there too.
First sip reveals an average body with fine prickly carbonation that hits my palate on each sip.
Flavor is some dry bakers chocolate with a bit of brown sugar and some molasses. A sweet malty beer that has no hops or booze that I can pick up. Is this a stout? Im not sure if it isnt more than a brown ale, but I do enjoy the beer and have no problem drinking several of these bottles in one night.
Id like to try more beers from this brewery if I see them.

Poured out as a deep reddish brown colo. The head was a light shade of tan. The retention is moderate and doesn't have much lacing. The smell of the beer gives off a faint aroma of chocolate and coffee. The taste gave off more coffee flavors with a subtle hippy bitterness in the finish. The mouthfeel is medium bodied. Nicely carbonated and drinkable. Overall I was intrigued by the name more or less it's a Brown Ale. Pretty good though.
