Belgian White IPA brewed with barley and wheat, containing wonderful grapefruit citrus aroma and peppery sweet finish. An IPA for everyone.

A: The beer is slightly hazy yellow in color and has a light to moderate amount of visible carbonation. It poured with a finger and a half high white head that died down, consistently leaving a short head covering the surface and lots of lacing down the sides of the glass.
S: Moderate spicy aromas of Belgian yeast are present in the nose along with notes of grapefruit citrus.
T: Following the smell, the taste flavors of peppery spices from the yeast along with notes of citrusy hops—grapefruit stand out in particular. There is a light to moderate amount of bitterness.
M: It feels light- to medium-bodied on the palate and has a moderate amount of carbonation.
O: This is a nice American representation of a Belgian IPA—you get a lot of spicy aromas and flavors from the yeast but there are subtle notes of grapefruit in it as well.

A: Pours a very lightly hazy medium yellow in color with moderate amounts of active visible carbonation rising from the bottom of the glass and faint pale golden yellow colored highlights. The beer has a three finger tall dense sudsy foamy off-white head that slowly reduces to a medium sized patch of medium thick film surrounded by a large patch of mottled very thin film covering the remainder of the surface of the beer and a thin ring at the edges of the glass. Moderate to significant amounts of lacing are observed.

S: Moderate aromas of wheat + pale malts with minimal amounts of sweetness as well as light to moderate aromas of citrus/grapefruit + citrus/grapefruit zest and moderate aromas of slightly spicy Belgian yeast.

T: Upfront there are moderate flavors of wheat + pale malts with minimal amounts of sweetness. That is followed by slightly stronger than moderate flavors of slightly spicy Belgian yeast. Finally there are light to moderate flavors of citrus/grapefruit + citrus/grapefruit zest which impart a light amount of bitterness fading away leaving lingering Belgian yeast flavors.

M: Just shy of medium bodied with moderate amounts of carbonation. Slightly thin with a hint of dryness in the finish.

O: Refreshing and fairly easy to drink with well hidden alcohol - a pretty decent example of the style as it tastes like a Belgian Pale and IPA hybrid. Really nice presence of Belgian yeast which complements the grapefruit citrus hops.

Got a sample of Big Star from a mix 12pck at the drug mart in Willard, OH. It poured a clear yellow with white head that is not leaving much of a lace. The scent is Belgian malt with pine hops. The taste is Belgian hints with slight spice and pine. The Mouthfeel is medium in body with good carbonation. Overall this might be my favorite from Four Strings.

Can poured into a snifter. Light golden in color with a thin, bubbly white head of foam. Belgain yeasty aroma with notes of citrus, mango, orange peel, and lemon zest. This honestly smells like a sour. The taste follows along pretty closely, with the initial flavor being a slightly tart, slightly hoppy blend of lemon, yeast, and hops. As it warms on the palate, the hop presene increases, as does the bitterness. There's a consistent Belgain character in there, that never fades or waivers. The finish is crisp and dry, and leaves being a strong acidic fruit taste to linger. In terms of feel, this beer is suprisingly light in weight for the ABV. I would've guessed this was around 5.5%.

Overall, not too bad, but not all that great. This honestly, given the Belgain characteristics coupled with the tart fruit, reminded me of a hoppy Farmhouse Ale more than an IPA. It's a little bit tart, a little bit sour, a little bit malty, and decently hoppy. It's a nice twist on what could've been a really boring beer. Unfortunately, the taste is just a little off in my opinion. They could tweak a couple things and have a real winner here.

Looks very average, maybe less head retention than several others, but whatever. Lacing presents a full sliding sheet of fizz bubble, relaxing to what may be the most absolutely dingiest yellow I've ever seen in a beer.

Every time I swirl it, another smell pops up. At first I was getting that Belgian thing, next swirl mealy biscuit, next swirl stinging alcohol, last swirl had a little tropical bitterness.

Taste is immediately tart. Like shockingly so for the style. After that initial shock I am getting a vinous component wrapped around a fairly nondescript bitterness.

Finishes a touch more wet than I thought it would, given the heat on the nose but there is a little lingering sweetness.

Not bad, but probably not a 2nd time buyer.

I'm pretty sure this Four String product I've tried, and I'm glad it won't be my last. This is Raging Bitch after therapy. She's now we'll behaved and quite pleasant.

It looks typical. Yellow, fizzy and cloudy. The aroma is a treat. It smells all hoppy, yeasty and malty all at the same time, and beautifully balanced. A pleasure to hold under your nose.

The taste is of mellow ipa and mellow Belgian. Balanced. It's this a case where the American version is more balanced? Who cares, it's really good.

The aftertaste is more what you expect from a Belgian American, yeasty. Overall, I wish I had more of this. I will certainly look for it.

Upon further examination it seems this is the second Four String I've reviewed. The third week come soon.

There is a sickly sweetness to this beer that is unbecoming of an IPA. It took me two months to finish a six pack ...I get that it's a Belgian.......but........just not what I look for in an IPA
