Perfect review by Hojaminbag. I have couple of things to add.
Giles and Sarah have moved out making room for more hostel guests. They have added Heady Topper cans to their selection. It was very fresh. No hop resin coagulation in mine (or whatever those white floaties are).
The food's good, the beer's good, the people are friendly. I love Hostel Tevere.

Wow not much left to say after that last review. I've never stayed here but I've enjoyed a few great after parties here. Good vibes, nice people, and a pretty nice setup indeed. Hostel, bar, dining room area, fire pit in the back yard, etc. The beer selection is always pretty decent and occasionally they get some cool kegs. I ate here during a special event and I'm not sure if the buffet style meal they were serving was the traditional fare at this place or not, but I did enjoy it. It's very close to the Warren Store, The Mad Taco in Waitsfield, Waitsfield Wine Shop, etc.

The Hostel Tevere is at the base of the Sugarbush access road in a house that is probably a couple of hundred years old.
As far as the hostel part of the establishment goes, it is clean, friendly, comfortable and affordable. I won't get much further into this except to say that I stayed there for a few nights and recommend the place, as I plan to return.
The bar area is in the portion of the building closest to the parking lot. Around it are short tables that have more of a restaurant feel to them. There are only about 8 seats at the actual bar, with a couple of tall tables.
The atmosphere rocks. The whole place (hostel and bar and restaurant) is run by an engaged couple by the name of Giles and Sarah. There are a couple of other employees who help as well, but it seems that either Giles or Sarah are there at all times (they live upstairs) and Giles is often behind the bar while Sarah is in the kitchen. The bar has a mix of friendly, interesting locals, friendly hostel-residents and whoever is working at the hostel at the time. I was there alone for an impromptu skiing trip and I made friends the first night and I spent the next couple of days with them. I was happy to end my night at the bar, as it really seems to be the hub of activity in the area. This bar is worth a stop if you are in the Mad River Valley for its atmosphere alone. Also, the first night I was there, the entire bar was having a pretty serious and involved conversation about good beer.
The bar is just starting to get into craft beer, and something tells me that it will only add more and better beers to the menu. There are 8 taps, all of which have good beer flowing. While I was there (4 days) all 8 taps turned over at least once. The focus is on local VT stuff. Beers that I noted on-tap include: Trapp Lodge gold, a couple of Switchback beers, Lawson's Double Sunshine and Back Yard Red, Maine Brewing Peeper Ale, Trout River Red, starapromen lager, and quite a few others (including Smuttynose, sixpoint, etc.).
There are about a dozen bottles of good beer, mostly Vermont stuff, but I know that Sixpoint is going to start having both kegs and cans here, and I heard some talk about heady topper cans as well.
All the ingredients for food here are locally sourced, and most things are made from scratch. The cheesesteak I had here was a cheesesteak, and was good but not exceptional. Breakfast, however, was fantastic. Everything was fresh, prepared perfectly from scratch, well-seasoned, and tasty.
My service at both the bar and at the tables was great. Everyone knew me by name after my first night there and made me feel at home.
If you are in the area looking for a bar that will be a great time and some good beers on-tap, stop at the Hostel Tevere. As of now I would say it isn't a beer destination, but it's a great stop if you are in the Mad River Valley.
