Excellent Imperial porter with creamy mouthfeel that is bursting with chocolate, coffee and roasted flavor. Love how it looks sitting midnight black in my tulip. Aroma is wonderful as well....thoroughly enjoyable. Salute

Served in a shaker pint glass.

Who knows what darkness lurks in the hearts of beer drinkers? Anyway, this stuff pours a dark midnight sienna topped by a finger of wan sandstone foam. The nose comprises roasted malts, dark chocolate powder, light coffee, and a hint of treacle. The taste brings in more of the same, along with a touch of toasted oats. The body is a hefty-leaning medium, with a light moderate carbonation and a somewhat thick-ish feel. Overall, a pretty solid stout, nothing to write home about, but I could see drinking this again.

A-Clearish brown when pouring, two finger brown head that doesn't last long.

S-Roasted malt, chocolate, some oats, coffee isn't really there.

T-Starts with roasted malt, tad bit of chocolate and oats. that is about it. Not much else.

M-Medium in body, slightly watery, not much carbonation. Some alcohol heat.

O-Not sure that this beer needed to be over 10%, Pipeworks makes some amazing beers but this one is only ok. But glad I was able to try it, always love Pipeworks stuff.

22oz bomber poured into a snifter. Batch number reads 238 242 243.

A- Pours black with little to no head. Not much else to say here.

S- Chocolate and coffee is apparent on the nose, as well as an almost licorice-like aroma. Weird.

T- Sweet with notes of chocolate and coffee, as in the smell.

M- Medium bodied, light carbonation, alcohol noted but not overly apparent.

An average offering from Pipeworks, lesser on the totem pole compared to the other fantastic beers I've had from them.
