We brew this Wee Heavy with Fennugreek, for a distinct maple character, and vanilla bean. The we aged it in Buffalo Trace barrels for nine months. The beer that came out of the barres is a beautiful composition of maple, oak, caramel, vanilla, bourbon and perfectly burnt sugar. Wonderful now but also will stand up to a Rip Van Winkle style nap in you temperature controlled area of choice.

Picked up this 22 oz. bottle during our recently completed quick trip to Chicago, where there was plenty of kissing for our 20th wedding anniversary. Should have brought a bigger suitcase.
Dirty red, which is just ahead of dirty blonde as my favorite hue, with almost no head. There’s a joke there somewhere. The nose brings caramel, wood, bourbon, & vanilla. All good things.
Last Kiss is like a booze IV to the brain pan. Holy alcohol. After the grain alcohol comes a long, lingering tongue of caramel maltiness, strong vanilla bean, bourbon sting, burnt brown sugar, & an odd, pleasant herbal quality on the finish that I’ll call fenugreek. My wife has already offered to drink my half, so I guess we’d call that drinkable.
My wife loves this & give it an A+. Me, I think it’s a fine effort & a very good beer.

Very dark brown body, white ring. Smells like candied roasted nuts, amazing: nuts, brown sugar, vanilla, maple, oak, bourbon and candi sugar. Taste is more boozy, heavy bourbon washes the nuts, maple, vanilla, butterscotch and sugar, adding in some earth and smoke. Vanilla really stands out. Booze cut out on the edges of the feel, heads down the path to syrupy but stops short of it, warm.

22 ounce bottle into a tulip snifter. 2018 release. Had 8/25/18.
Pours an opaque, dark amber, with no real head and a little soapy lacing. Aromas of caramel, bourbon, maple, malt, figs, dates, some vanilla, some oak. Smells incredible. The taste pretty much follows along, with the bourbon a little more forward, then caramel, vanilla, malt, maple, figs, light brown sugar. Smooth, a solid full body, well carbonated.
This is so well crafted, the aroma is so complex and layered. The fenugreek is awesome in conveying the maple (did some looking, eating fenugreek seeds can make your body odor smell like maple- but not in a good way). The barrels are terrific as well. This is for sure, one of my favorite beers from Pipeworks.

Pours thick and dark for a wee heavy, but consistent with what I'd expect from a barrel-aged version. The fenugreek is strong with this one, providing brown sugar, maple, and fennel seed in that order, the latter resulting in a brighter, celery-like sharpness on the finish. It makes for a very interesting and distinctive addition. Moderate vanilla and oak notes from the barrel, but unfortunately I have not had the unaged base beer for comparison.
