Notes/Commercial Description:
This IIPA, the latest addition in our hop-highlighting NvU Epic Battle series, has a bright, fresh hop aroma, and a subtle bitterness, that has us all talking about how crushable this is. (DISCLAIMER: Please do not actually crush beer while still in bottle and cap is still on. It will hurt…not that we know) Drink early, drink often.

Clear gold. Head is dense but short and abruptly subsides.

Tropical fruit aromas. Dragon fruit, tangerine, mango.

Tropical fruit flavors. Slightly dry even with a little bit of grass. Light toasted cracker malt.

Mouthfeel is slightly flat. My only knock on the beer. Not entirely, but could use more carbonation to add a crispness to compliment the dry bite.

A very good beer. Not one of my favorite ninjas, but at this point the bar is high and even not being one of my favorites it's still one to seek out.

Pours a nice bright copper/gold. Clear. Almost no head on this pour. Smell is very underwhelming. Usually these pipeworks DIPA explode with a nice aroma. Only getting a small amount of pine in the smell. The taste is very light. Slight citrus and pine flavor. No hop bitterness present. I'm surprised by how unhoppy this is tasting. Very malty, but it is refreshing and easy to drink. Glad I have a second bottle to try, this one just doesn't seem as good as some other pipeworks and I've heard great things about it. It's not bad, just wasn't what I was expecting. Will try again soon. It's really smooth and goes down quick.

A: Darker-yellow to lighter copper/orange. Very clear. Moderate head with little lacing and poor head retention.

S: Aroma is of pine and cat piss (in a good way). A little funk, but not barnyard. I read a few reviews that mentioned orange zest and vegetal - right on.

T: Bitter throughout. Pale malts and resinous. Strong grapefruit taste (even without the nose).

M: Medium carbonation. Leaning towards the syrupy mouthfeel side of IIPA's, which is how I prefer the style.

O: Very solid IIPA. Another strong ninja from Pipeworks.
