This Imperial IPA brewed with tons of exciting Australian and New Zealand hops such as Summer, Waimea, and Wakatu, has juicy papaya and guava notes as well as a pleasant herbal aroma. Like a boomerang, we keep coming back for more of this one.

This is a review of a bottle from November 2016.

Pours a darker golden color with ample clarity and 1/2" white head. The New Zealand hops here aren't the ones you always see. This ain't Nelson Sauvin or Riwaka time. Its Waimea, Wakatu and Summer. Eh. What are summer hops? Never heard of 'em. So the weird thing here, is these 'W' hops from New Zealand are pretty dang similar to our "C" hops over here. Basically you get a good amount of wooden pine and grapefruit zest out of these, which you can do with the plentiful non proprietary hops, but I guess that isn't sexy enough.

Taste, its like a C hopped dipa but without the crystal malt heavy formula (as much, there's still some here). I dunno what the commercial tug job here about tropical fruit is all about beyond marketing, its just not accurate. These might be a slight bit more herbal than your standard Cascade/Centennial/Chinook ipa. Other than that, its like getting generic cola and pretending its a new Coca Cola variety.

Found this at a small chain I go to, they have an awesome Pipeworks' selection. Batch# shows it was bottled a year ago, so I figured it would be faded worse than a Cypress Hill fan on April 20. Surprisingly, it still was hoppy as hell, had a good fruit on it, and near the end, with a nice brownish color after looking like a grapefruit at the beginning, it has more funk than a Commodores/Kool and the Gang double bill.

Pipeworks- the ghosts of Steve Irwin and Paul Hogan demand you bring this one back! Crikey!
