22oz bottle (Batch# 435/36/37) poured into a CBS oversized snifter.

A - Pours a super dark brown/near black color in the glass, brown highlights at the edge of the glass. A short 1/2 finger of pale tan/grayish head lingers briefly and leaves a short, foamy collar on the edge of the glass.

S - Mild aroma, plenty of chocolate, roasty coffee, a bit of licorice, a bit of booze.

T - Very coffee forward, deep and roasty. Fair amount of booze/alcohol with a bit of a warmish burn to it. Milk chocolatey smoothness/sweetness.

M - Rather full bodied with a lower carbonation that is a bit foamy and rather creamy overall. Roasty and coffee heavy throughout. A bit boozy - shows the 10.5% alcohol content - slows the pace of drinking on this, but isn't really distracting.

O - Overall, I like this imperial stout. One of the better in the Abduction series...having tried several of them now. This almost makes me think of it as an amped up Founders Breakfast Stout. Not as smooth as drinkable as the FBS, but I find the coffee character quite similar with more of a boozy kick.

Pours a diesel thick opaque black with a very thin caramel brown head.

Heavy on the dark chocolate, roasted malt nuttiness, and espresso.

A little too heavy on the chocolate, roasted malts are lacking, and coffee is dull.

Mouthfeel is thick on the heavy, like sipping a chocolate malt.

Overall this is decent, but I feel could have been better.

Thanks to Aaron for sharing this one!

Inky black with a naturally mocha tan tint to the foam on top. Flecks of spotty lacing around the edges.

Big vanilla and coffee aromas, slightly sweet with a coffee brownie impression.

Similar flavors, flavored coffee, mocha and vanilla notes are spot on. Light coffee bitterness, fudgy chocolate, lingering charred malt. Sticky on the lips. Body seems a little thinner due to the coffee addition. Overall it tastes great, definitely worth a try.

22 oz. bottle, with Batch #435/36/37 printed on the label. The latest Abduction stout variant from the masters at Pipeworks. Expectations are amazing based on this knowledge. Good thing I'm here to pick up the slack for all these non-reviewers.

Poured into a Duvel tulip.

A - Pours a dark fudgey chocolate brown, nearly opaque in the glass with some brown hues showing around the edges. A finger and a half of mocha head that thins to a ring rather quickly. Scattered sticky spotty lacing on the glass. Definitely looks like a coffee beer, very nice.

S - Freshly brewed coffee / spent coffee grounds are very apparent on this one. Cacao, vanilla, cream, mild lactose, & mild alcohol fumes are also noticeable.

T - The taste follows the nose - delicious authentic roasted coffee beans / coffee ground bitterness, powdery chocolate / cacao, creamy vanilla / mild lactose, and some mild alcohol presence. Delicious.

M - The feel is creamy , sticky, and smooth with good roasty coffee bitterness clinging to the palate.

Overall, another delicious stout variant from Pipeworks. Not the greatest rendition of this beer, but very delicious nonetheless. Very coffee forward, almost Surly Coffee Bender status. Highly recommended.

Pipeworks Mocha Abduction ---4/5.
