This beer is retired; no longer brewed.

This golden ale, brewed in collaboration with the restaurant Owen and Engine, was brewed with coconut, amchoor (dried green mangos), and jaggery (raw sugar from sugar cane and date palm tree). It's an otherworldly summer sipper. Hopped gently with grassy Hallerteau Blanc hops, this brew is a special delight.

Pours hazy straw yellow in color with some faint golden colors. Head is one finger and retains nicely.

Smell has a lot going on. Some coconut and grainy malt stick out most. There are some odd spice aromas that follow that are hard to make out along with a very faint Belgian yeasty aroma

Taste follows the nose with some coconut coming out first along with a bunch of different spices that I am unfamiliar with.

Mouthfeel is on the lighter side with a light creamy feel and moderate small bubble carbonation.

22 oz. bottle, with Batch #423/424 printed on the label. Another new collaboration effort from the guys at Pipeworks, this one a 'golden ale brewed with coconut, amchoor, and jaggery'. I'm not entirely sure what to expect with this one.

Poured into a Duvel tulip glass.

A - It pours a nice dark golden colored body with about a finger of bubbly white head. Lots of scattered spotty lacing. It looks very nice.

S - A semi-tart yeasty note is what hits me first. Grapey, vinous, some mild spice character, mild notes of coconut., & some alcohol fumes. I can definitely smell the amchoor / mango fruitiness distinctly, also.

T - Crisp, fruity, and tropical. I can definitely taste the creamy coconut distinctively, but it is faint. Lightly vinous and grapey.

M - The feel is smooth, creamy, juicy, and medium bodied with good adequate carbonation. Fruity on the palate.

Overall, another interesting and unique take on the Belgian style ale from Pipeworks. These guys are constantly innovating and pushing the envelope of things into bigger and better territory, and this one here is no exception. Recommended.

An interesting take on a Belgian ale from the boys at Pipeworks. Collaboration beer with Owen & Engine; brewed with coconut, amchoor, and jaggery sugar. Very sweet and lightly carbonated with a great mouthfeel. Coconut takes a backseat to the sugar and (what I'm guessing is) amchoor. Definitely a sipping beer but the abv is well-masked. Fans of spiced ales should enjoy this one.
