GNOMELAND SECURITY REPORT: Gnome man, gnome woman is safe! There's been an outbreak of zombie gnomes, due to Gnomeo Sapien (if we're using proper bignomenclature) gene crossed with a mutant gene discovered during the Human Gegnome Project. Make gnome mistakes! Stay in your gnome sweet gnome. Put on a movie like E.T. Gnome Gnome, or witness Gnomi Malone's character development in Showgirls, and enjoy this smoked saison.

Pours relatively thick for a saison and there is not a ton of carbonation. Dark golden in color with some straw hazy hues.

Smell has some grainy straw malt forward along with some Belgian spice of clove and cardamom. There is a mild herbal aroma near the end along with some sulfuric yeasty aromas.

Taste is sweeter then expected with underlying grainy and straw malt flavors forward. Very mild smoke presence and some more clove, coriander and Belgian spices along with a slightly sulfuric flavor.

Mouthfeel is thicker then expected. Carbonation is low the finish is sweet.

750 ml bottle, with Batch #420/421 printed on the label. Another new smoked beer creation from Pipeworks - this one a saison. Acquired this bottle at the local Binny's. Expectations are good, but I'm not entirely sure what to expect.

Poured into a Duvel tulip glass.

A - Pours a cloudy lemon orange colored body with some bubbles rising to the top of the glass from the etching on the bottom. Four fingers of soapy doughy off-white head. Head has good staying power for the high abv, and it leaves behind some nice scattered spotty lacing.

S - The smell is mostly spritzy pungent yeast, lemon zest, and herbal / floral spicing - pepper / coriander. The smoke is pretty light in the aroma, but there is a light woodsy smokiness present.

T - The smoke pulls through more on the taste. Woodsy, peppery, herbal, citric, and floral. Lemon zest & coriander.

M - The feel is crisp, smooth, & creamy. Very easy drinking despite the moderately high 8.00% abv. Medium-full bodied, with good thickness, and adequate carbonation.

Overall, another fun interesting take on this style from Pipeworks. Fairly light on the smoked side of things, but it is perfectly integrated and balanced with the saison aspects of the beer. Much better than the Pipeworks Zommelier wheat wine they recently put out also. I continue to look forward to more unique creations.
