22 ounce bottle into a tulip glass. Batch 749, bottled 6/25/15.
Pours a golden color, a little hazy, with a medium, quickly dissipating head and some foamy cling. Smell leads with floral and resinous hops, a little grapefruit. Some citrus- orange, from the bergamot, grapes, some oak, light malt. Taste shows more citrus than the nose, this time orange from the bergamot more prevalent than the hops. Grapes, light malt, a little more oak, touch of vanilla. Not overly bitter for all the citrus input. Smooth, dry, light bodied.
Very enjoyable effort from PW, another unique success. The bergamot and oak paired well with the Citra and Equinox hops. This was difficult to find, but just in case, go for it!

Very interesting collaboration. You can feel the more experimental combination of flavors coming from the cocktail world. The oak rounds out the body, the citra / equinox and bergamot combine to produce a bitter and floral citrus flavor with a good dose of herbal undertones .... somewhat resinous, sage and fresh damp leaves. Drier than the bulk of Pipeworks hoppy beers and better suited to the flavor combination.

22 oz. bottle, Batch #749. Another new collab from Pipeworks with The Aviary. "Oaked pale ale brewed with Bergamot Juice, Citra and Equinox hops".
Poured into a clear balloon snifter.
A - Pours a bright juicy golden orange, with some chill haze. One finger of creamy bubbly white head. Lots of sticky scattered lacing. Looks excellent.
S - A fresh, juicy, & floral aroma. The fresh flavorful hops are apparent, as is the juicy grapey berry-ish flavors of the Bergamot juice. Subtle caramel and vanilla flavors from the oak aging.
T - Taste follows the nose: juicy, fruity, grapey. The oak aging is less apparent in the flavor. Very subtle oak wood, vanilla, & caramel are noticeable in the finish. Juicy Citra and Equinox hops and the grapey Bergamot juice mainly steal the show.
M - Smooth, crisp, & creamy. Medium-light bodied, excellent carbonation, very easy-drinking for the high abv.
Overall, an excellent oaked pale ale from Pipeworks. Very recommended if it is available to you.
