Poured from a bomber into Duvel tulip; Batch 27 consumed on 8/15/12.

My custom is to smell the bottle immediately after opening: wow! Citrus City from the first wiff! Was curious to see how this would turn out, listed as a PA at 7.5%. After the pour (amber, generous eggshel head), malt backbone comes out in the nose (bready). Down the hatch, great citra presence. I get a bit of funk on the palate on the back end of this one, similar to the back end of a beer from NW IN with the initials of ZD (my frent!).

If this was to become my go-to beer, I'd be a fortunate & happy man. Go get some!

(Served in a tulip glass)
Batch 43
A- This beer pours a deep orange body with a rocky light beige head that takes up half the glass. It sticks to the class in sheets and is supported by a tiny carbonation.

S- The plastic note turns into a new sneaker hint and is taken over by a slight yeasty green hop aroma that finishes with a bit of a caramel malt hint popping through.

T- The spicy hops note leads to a creamy pale malt flavor that changes to a green pungent hop finish. There is some woody hop character to the finish with a cardamom quality to the hops as it opens.

M- This beer has a medium mouthfeel with a tight little fizz in the finish.

O- This is a nice easy sipping pale ale with a spicy pungent hop flavor that takes on an odd plastic smell. This just got put on the shelves at the local Binny’s and I didn’t realize it was from batch 43 until I cracked it open. I hope to find a fresher sample and re review.

Batch 27, bottled 8/2/12.

Ubiquitous indeed, a classic style done right in this case.

Poured into a tulip glass, the beer has a foggy glowing haze to it, saturated orange in color. Long lasting creamy foam and a series of concentric rings of lace adhere to the glass.

Citrusy orange peel, light florals, a touch spicy. Hop driven all the way, but nuanced.

Smooth, medium bodied, creamy feel with a moderate and persistent hop bitterness. Earthy, aspirin, leafy green botanicals. Pine and resins, finishes dry and clean with a kiss of pale malt and popcorn kernels. Carb is light, allowing the hop character to take center stage. Overall a highly drinkable American Pale Ale.

Poured from bottle into a pint glass. Pours a solid orange/gold color with a nice and foamy head.

There is a good dose of hop driven notes with aromas of citrus, oranges, pine cones and some pineapples as well.

Medium bodied with a lot of fresh flavors. Balanced, but slightly clipped on the finish with notes of pineapples, citrus, oranges and some florals as well.

A really good pale ale. It is in IPA abv territory, but really delicious. Too bad the finish is a bit clipped for me, but this is a really good hop forward brew.

Poured from 22oz bomber into tulip glass. Dark golden color, a bit cloudy with nice two finger head. Leaves alot of lacing around glass.

Aroma pungent pine, resin and citrus rind with some slight sweet malt overtones.

Taste more muted than the aroma. A quick burst of intense hops and clean finish with very little malt overtones. Very creamy that backs off the bitterness but not too sweet, real balanced.

Medium bodied beer, good carbonation with clean finish. Very drinkable like a a pale ale so was surprised by the ABV on the bottle.

An excellent example. Probably my second favorite Pale Ale after 3F Zombie Dust. Another winner in my back yard. I wish the ABV was lower, like 5-6%:).

Served in a Gale Sayers shaker pint glass.

This particular beer ain't as ubiquitous out here in the "Burbs... Anyway, it pours a clear brass topped by a finger of light cream foam. The nose comprises grapefruit rind, dirty toffee (this makes more sense in my head than it does on the screen...but I've got no other way to put it...), and pine resin. The taste brings in more of the same, though the toffee isn't as straightforward as in the smell; rather, it starts off somewhat subtle and increases in intensity as time progresses. The hops, though well-balanced with the toffee, maintain a healthy brightness throughout. The body is a light medium, with a light moderate carbonation and a dry finish. Overall, a solid, enjoyable, and true-to-form pale ale. Nicely done, gentlemen...
