Pour is a very dark brown with a tight light brown head. Nose is a light roast, some chocolate and vanilla notes, with a fair bit of sugary malt sweetness and berries. Body is thick and decadent. Roast is heavier, notes of chocolate and vanilla. Faint bitterness and the berry and slightly sugary malt accompany a semi dry finish.

A: Really dark and black, strong creamy light brown head with nice two finger head. Nice lacing that sticks.

S: First hit of aroma was espresso with some dark chocolate, and figs. Really pleasant smelling. Some alcohol

T: Again begins with the espresso and chocolate then moves to bittersweet cocoa, molasses, and some piney notes. A touch of alcohol at the end.

M: medium to full-bodied with a really nice creaminess that I enjoy.

O: Really nice beer, cant wait to try the fruit variations of this beer.

22oz bottle batch 247 11/14/13 bottling date into a teku glass

Pours a pitch black with a very nice creamy beige head. Smell is quite chocolately and sweet...nice! The taste is extremely creamy and very sweet. a lot of caramel but the most dominant flavor is creamy milk chocolate. this is a real treat to drink...its not overly sweet though like say creme brule its just perfect. creamy body..but almost full. correct carbonation.

overall im shocked at how much i like this. extremely recommended.

*Batch #247*

Pours a dark cola color with a thin cap of mocha foam that persists indefinitely. The aroma is simultaneously sweet and roasty, featuring dark chocolate, molasses, caramel, dark fruit, and a hint of alcohol.

The taste is substantially more powerful than the already substantive aroma would suggest. It takes a second, but your taste buds are soon bombarded by molasses, cherry cough syrup, and booze. Earthy, herbal hops only serve to heighten the ferocity. The chocolate that was suggested by the nose is nearly impossible to decipher in the taste. The cough syrup or booze alone would be about as much as I could handle, but together they're pretty overpowering. The tongue is nearly beaten into submission before the assault yields to what is actually a pleasant, warming haze of roasted malt that lingers admirably. The medium-to-heavy body lends a smooth, rich mouthfeel. It coats the palate and leaves substantial stickiness in its wake, practically gluing your lips together between sips.

Overall, this is a bombastic and characterful beer, if a little unwieldy. Worth trying for the experience, but there are far more deft imperial stouts out there.

22 oz. bottle poured into Founders snifter. Batch #247.

Appearance: Pours black with thick, 1 inch medium brown head. Great head retention.

Smell: Roasted malt, cocoa powder, followed up by a strong caramel malt presence. Ever so slight oxidation. No alcohol presence at all in the aroma.

Taste: Semi-sweet chocolate, roasted malt, caramel. Quite a bit of caramel malt, actually, and it comes off as very sweet. No real alcohol presence. I would probably give it a bit more bitterness if I could, but overall it's very rich and well done.

Mouthfeel: Very rich and smooth. Low carbonation level. Excellent.

Overall: Another excellent beer from Pipeworks. Definitely on the sweeter side of the imperial stout spectrum
