Our Imperial IPA hopped with so many, really just so many, pounds of Citra hops is one of our favorites to brew, mostly because it's one of our favorites to drink. Cheers! Drink early and often.

16oz can, date stamped 12/20/19. Light amber colored body with slight haze and a foamy ivory head. Juicy and tropical Citra hop aroma hinting at mango, orange, grapefruit, pine, and light caramel. Bittersweet flavors of mango, pine, orange & grapefruit zest, pineapple, light caramel, and honey. Full body, resinous with pleasant carbonation and a bitter finish that is backed by a decent malt backbone. Wow - really good!

Pint can poured into glass. Golden orange color. Smells subtle compared to the taste, a great kick of citrus hops, wow! This one is excellent!

Pint can from Pipeworks' first run of canned Citra (as opposed to previous batches in bombers). An absolute delight of a standard DIPA, single-hopped with Citra, as the name would suggest. Pours a translucent light copper with a touch of unfiltered cloudiness, a full finger of head, and good retained lacing. Perfect balance between malt cracker and hop bitterness. Not bursting, but full of flavor, pink grapefruit, orange zest, wildflower honey, biscuit, ripe avocado, pine resin, and pineapple.

Appearance - Pours clear deep golden color with huge fluffy white head. Lots of spotty lacing around the glass.

Aroma - Citra hops are the star of this show. Orange, light mango, light malt hiding underneath. A great mixture of citrus peel and grapefruit also shining through.

Taste - Very soft mellow flavors. Mild orange tangerine very nice balance of sweet and light malt/hops. Soft hint of caramel, Citra hops again shine. So well balanced no hash or dominating flavors at all.

Feel - medium bodied pretty soft feel just a touch of dryness on the finish and some light warming from the alcohol.

Overall - Well done Imperial IPA, great flavors dangerously easy drinking soft feel.

Pours a hazy dark copper color with bright tangerine edges and a two finger pillowy off-white head that very slowly settles into a thick, lasting cap. Excellent retention taking a while to settle and coating the glass wih large chunks of soapy lacing on its way down. A little darker than expected but retention and lacing are impressive.

Dank floral hop aroma with a nice balance of earthy resins, strong tropical fruit notes and s sweet malt backbone balancing things out. Ultra freh and juicy right now with dank buds, fresh cut grass, pine needle/sap and spruce tips. Really nice dank and floral kind bud presence without being too funky or one dimensional. Strong juicy tropical/citrus fruit sweetness in there with grapefruit, pineapples, blood orange, guava and mango. Slightly overpowered by caramel malt sweetness with hints of toffee, biscuit and cracker. A bit heavy on the malt for me but the dank earthy hops and sweeter fruit notes stand out.

Very similar to the aroma with slightly stronger malt presence and a little less tropical fruit sweetness. Dank and earthy hop bitterness lingering throughout countered by citrus/tropical fruit and a sweet caramel malt backbone. Grassy pine needle and dank juicy nuggets with a really crisp juicy hop bite. Subtle sweetness at first but as it opens up there's a bit more with strong grapefruit, pineapple and orange zest flavor. This is followed by caramel malt sweetness, biscuit, grainy cracker and faint toffee. Stronger malt profile than I usually prefer but it provides nice balance without hindering hop bitterness. The sweeter tropical notes are slightly overtaken but not too much. Well balanced with complex hop flavors and little to no heat/boozy sweetness. Dangerously drinkable.

Thanks to HIGHPA for this 22 oz. bottle, which comes after some post Huna Day detox. I probably shouldn’t drink until May. Split with my wife.

The pour, sans a bit of sediment, is a clear golden color a few shades darker than macro, with a strong, persistent cap of white foam. One of the stronger noses I’ve had off of an IPA in a spell: overripe citrus, pine, grapefruit zest. Nice.

Pipeworks Citra tastes like it’s been aged on third grade chalk. You know, the kind Mrs. Butler was always making that horrible sound with spelling out “Mississippi”. Soft, dry, soft, soft chalk. The taste leans to cantaloupe, pine resin, with a base of minty herbal tea. No alcohol. I’m sure. Nice to slug or sip.

I haven’t encountered an IPA with this radical mouthfeel. Very good beer.
