Batch # 248 250 252

A - Pours black, doesn't seem thick, with a light khaki head. Not really any retention.

S - Coffee (not huge), roasted malts and vanilla sweetness.

T - The coffee notes aren't huge and take a back seat here. Good amount of roasted malts and sweet vanilla. There's some hints of dark fruits and licorice.

M - Medium bodied and carbonation. Really creamy body. The sweetness is a little cloying to me.

O - Not overly impressed with this one. Coffee notes are weak and the sweetness is a bit much.

A - Jet black body with minimally visible carbonation. The lack of a head is my only gripe with this brew. I poured pretty vigorously and still barely anything.

N - Magnificent. Vanilla, Chocolate, Roasted Coffee.

M - Light, but with creamy deliciousness.

T - Up front you have sweet roasty coffee followed by vanilla and cocoa hints with a smoother than smooth finish.

O - The best stout I have had to date. Took Stones IRS's place. Again I wish the appearance was a little more pleasing but hey with the nose and taste being so outstanding I can deal with it.

2013 vintage consumed June, 2014.

Medium brown-black color, like an English stout or darker brown ale, topped with a small tan head. In the aroma, old coffee and dry dark malts. Roasty bitterness in the taste, flavors were kind of thinned out, dark malts, old coffee grounds, vanilla just barely coming through as more of a sour cream sensation. Mouthfeel was way too light and thin for the style, and somewhat chalky, alcohol was neutral. This beer was pretty messy, and I had no desire to have more than a small sample. Maybe it's better fresh, but I can't imagine a beer starting out good and then turning into this in a mere year's time.
