Tasted with the group, side-by-side with the other three Pipeworks Berliners. 1/4. This one pours a murky, apple-juice color with a light yellow-gold tint in the very center. Head wisps away into nothing within a few seconds. Aroma is very tart and tantalizing on the nostrils; nice heaps of apples, apple skins, lemon, and sharp citrus blasts back and forth. The smell is actually quite "full" for being a 3.5% ABV Berliner. Smells very refreshing and easy-going.
The taste comes out just as expected - nice, juicy green apple and apple skins that are lightly sour, but not tart enough to cause puckering - just enough to get those saliva glands excited, then keep them holstered. Flavors follow up with lemon, lemon zest, lemon-lime - mildly akin to a Sprite in beer form, though much better. The finish is crisp with some lasting sour fruit notes, mainly apple and lemon, a bit of which have turned into a refreshing sweetness. Very light bodied, to be expected, medium-high carbonation.
Such an easy drinking and refreshing beer, yet packed pretty well with aroma and flavor given its low alcoholic content. I could put down a bunch of these and still be feeling fine. Keep them coming!

From: 20 West Wine and Spirits, Lombard, IL
Date: None, but listed as "Batch 74"
Glass: Ayinger willi glass
Warning: huge chunks of coagulated protein/yeast/something on the bottom of my bottle, pour with care.
Pipeworks' Flower Child berlinerweisse is a fairly solid attempt at the style, with pleasant acidity, lemon, and wheat characters. The 750ml bottle also happens to be one of Pipeworks' only affordable offerings, and is one I'd return to if seen again.
Pours a 2cm tall head of clean, white bubbles that are small to medium in size, presenting a foam that is somewhat dishsoap-like in appearance. Foam retention is good, lasting about 1.5 minutes as it declines to a thick ring around the perimeter of the glass and a medium-sized island atop the body of the beer. Lacing is minimal, just a few dots cling to the sides of the glass. The beer's body is a light, pale golden yellow color, with light bringing out a extra pale, watery yellow hue to the beer. Carbonation is visible through the slightly hazy (20-30% opacity) beer, low in number and moderate in activity.
Aroma is tart and lemon-like, moderate lactic acid influences reminding one a bit of yogurt, with notable wheat to smooth out any rough edges and add a bit of grainy sweetness to the overall scent.
Overall flavors are of tart lactic acid, lemon, and wheat grains. Front of palate experiences tart lactic acid, dried lemon, and slightly sweet wheat grains. Mid-palate is of mild white wheat grains, slightly spicy/peppery phenols, lightly tart lactic acid, yogurt, and hints of lemon. Back of palate experiences stronger tartness from lactic acid and yogurt, yeast, lemon, with less present notes of wheat malt, though at times they seem present. Aftertaste is of mild tartness, light lemon, and slightly grainy and sweet wheat malt.
Beer is medium-light to light in body, with carbonation of medium intensity, resulting in a mouthfeel that is slightly fizzy (1/5), then becoming somewhat foamy (1/5) and otherwise smooth (3/5). Generally fairly crisp and dry. Closes dry, with light stickiness clinging to the palate and lips.

A-hazy golden color with a nice white head and some lacing, huge sediment!
S-lemon, wheat, crackers, slight sourness
T-wheat, cracker malt, hint of pepper, lemon, slight yeast , tart
F-light to medium body with nice lively carbonation, crisp and dry
O-a pretty nice BW, good flavor, the sediment was excessive and really needed decanting
