Waxed 750ml bottle from 4/30/13, served about 50 degrees into Half Acre snifter.

Dark walnut body with a thin light cream head which dissolves quickly, riming retention around the periphery of the glass.

Heavy roast with alcohol on the nose, some earthiness, raspberry is surprisingly subdued.

Flavor is much heavier on the raspberry and is present from start to finish. No sour overtones which is nice. Roasty chocolate character lends itself well to the raspberry notes. Not as hot as I would have expected. The truffle is pretty subdued but is present in some earthiness which is present. Definitely enjoying this.

John: "straight raspberry up the asshole on this." He is really drunk at this point.

Mouthfeel is fuller than the first release of this which is an improvement. Still medium-full body though and could be fuller. Carbonation is medium and pretty appropriate. Sticky finish.

Overall, I enjoy this and am very glad to have tried it. It could be better, but is great as it is.

(Served in a snifter)

A- This beer pours an opaque black body with a big bubble mat of cocoa colored head.

S- The fresh tart raspberries mix with an earthy rich chocolate malt aroma even during the pour.

T- The fresh bright tart raspberries leads to a mellow dark roasted malt flavor that grows as the beer opens. There is a dark cocoa flavor in the finish that has just a touch of sweetness to it. The berry tartness lingers for a moment with some raspberry leaf tea that could be just some soft hop character but adds another dimension.

M- This beer has a medium mouthfeel with a slightly slippery texture and no real alcohol heat.

O- This beer has a great fresh raspberry flavor and some delicious chocolate flavor with no chocolate nougat character typical of beers with nibs added. Really balanced and easy to drink.

A - Pours a dark brown with a fluffy light brown head that fades very slowly.

S - Lots of raspberry and chocolate malts.

T - Tons of raspberry through out, bitter-dry chocolate keeps it from being overly sweet.

D - Good carbonation with a heavy body.

O - Nice raspberry and not super sweet. Best of the series for me.

750 ml shared at the Swamp Head Bottle Drop. Pours dark brown to black with a small khaki head. Aroma is huge chocolate covered raspberries, really nice, with just a hint of roast. Flavor follows as expected with big raspberry flavor, some dark chocolate, and more raspberry. This almost drinks like a fruit beer with a little extra heft. Not too sweet, and tastes like raspberries rather than cough syrup, but just touches the border onto the medicinal side. Very very sweet nonetheless. Medium plus body, adequate carbonation. Don’t need much of this to get the gist, and definitely one to share. Very glad I got a chance to try it.

750ml bottle into a snifter

dark black pour with a slight whitish head. smell is huge on raspberries with a tad of smokiness. taste has a ton of raspberry flavor even after about a year, and is very smooth especially for the ABV. there is some chocolate thrown in at the back end as well. body is not that thick but not too thin either, hard to get a huge body with no barrel. carbonation is mild and appropriate.

overall probably the best fruit abduction...not world class or anything though.
