I Fucking Love this beer. Insane amounts of chocolate with rasberry tartness to round out the flavors.
I still think the cherry is fantastic but this is defiantly my favorite out of the abductions so far
Defiantly an after dinner dessert beer! Enjoy with good friends

Cracked open a bottle in advance of the upcoming snow storm. Another of the Abduction series from Pipeworks.

A-pours dark brown with a fairly modest head that settles quickly into the glass. Slightly oily.

S-T - Fits the profile of the flavor abductions in that you have to search long and far for the flavor. It is there like a piece of chocolate that has some fruit background but the base abduction dominates with only a slight hint of raspberry behind it.

M- Not overly thick, decent but not noteworthy.

O - I have had all of these and by far the best is the coffee. Given the popularity of the flavor ones, I would not search out and trade much for them. They need to figure out what they want from these beers. Not saying they need to be fruit bombs, but they need to consider some recipe change to take them to the next level.

Cool bottle artwork, but when that might be the best part of the beer, probably tells you something.

750ml bottle of the most recent batch. Don't remember the batch number, but its definitely in the last 2 months or so. Poured into a Hill Farmstead stemmed glass today, 11/2/2013.

Pours a standard imperial stout, looks just like Abduction except its a bit more effervescent and foamy. Dark black body, opaque with a nice dark mocha head, good retention.

Smells quite tart- I wasn't sure at first if it was infected or not, but I think its just that chocolate covered raspberry character. Smells somewhat sweet, tart with a bit of underlying roast sweetness.

I'm not a fan of how this actually integrates into the flavour profile. Its dark chocolate with a non-descript fruit flavour that borders on the verge of buttery and thin. I think this is what Pipeworks intended, but it just doesn't do it for me.

Medium bodied, on the thinner side. A bit watery. OK carbonation. Smooth and silky and not that hard to drink. Got a bit of fruity dark chocolate on the back end which is nice.

Its just not my jam, to be honest. Orange Truffle was a lot better in how the orange zest complemented the base imperial stout. This one is what its purported to be- chocolate covered raspberries- but it kind of suffers in the flavour and mouthfeel for that reason.
