Poured from bottle into a pint glass. Pours a dark brown color with a foamy head.

Jam packed with rich and deep aromas of raspberries, truffles, black berries, malts, and some espresso beans.

Full bodied and very smooth with deep and rich notes of raspberries, malts, espresso beans, and truffles.

This is a really damn good imperial stout. There is a lot of depth on this and it holds everything really well. It's big without being overdone or too rich.

Pours jet black, brown finger of head, very murky, bits of brown lace. Aroma is very chocolaty, with slight raspberry fruitiness, coffee backing, roast, light smoke. Chocolate taste, bitter finish, though I think that's the cacao. Raspberry adds a fruity layer, balances nicely. Body is full, rich and silky. Not much to complain about.

Hard to say whether I liked this better than coffee break...but it's delicious!

750ml, Batch 117
Rodenbach Grand Cru tulip

A: Pitch black in color. Lower carbonation. Basically a collar of light tan. Some lacing bits.

S: Smells of raspberry for sure. Dark chocolate. Not roasty at all. Sweet bomb, but I like it.

T: Really interesting brew. Really forward raspberry flavor. Covers up any roast. Dark cocoa and raspberry. Creamy. Finish is dry. Lingering flavors.

M: Full bodied. Creamy.

Appearance is dark but not opaque brown head that leaves minimal retention and lacing. The nose is somewhat acidic with notes of tart raspberry up front followed by heavy cacao notes. Taste has a strong raspberry presence up front with bitter chocolate to follow and some remnants of berry on the finish. Mouthfeel is big with a touch of stickiness and moderate carbonation. Overall' a tasty fruited imperial stout with nice essence of raspberry. I wish the chocolate played a bigger role here, but that is just ersonal preference.
