Cascade Ninja is rather dark. Dirty copper to be exact with an orange hue when backlit. The opacity is such that all you can see through the body are indistinct shadows. The head is white and pure, just a finger in height on the pour before dipping to a thick ring. Spotty but sticky lace decorates the glass.

Ruby grapefruit and peppery pineapple have fingerprints all over this beer. Orange marmalade and a squeeze of lemon also come into play with faint forest floor hidden deep within. The malty backbone is fairly substantial which adds to the sweetness of that orange marmalade aspect. Good depth for a single hopped beer.

There is not much difference between the flavor and smell of Cascade Ninja. Sweetened grapefruit is first and foremost with orange marmalade and peppery pineapple following behind. The peppery character adds a nice spice, it's fruity but spicy at once. The malt backbone is large and mostly caramel. There's a big sweetness but it's balanced by spicy alcohol and big hop additions.

There is some sticky sweetness up front but the body quickly evens out. For some reason this Ninja doesn't drink as sweet or feel as sticky as some others I've had. The finish is dry, which alcohol fumes and hops seem to accentuate. The alcohol is welcomed though and adds a spicy character.

Weighing in at 9.5% Cascade Ninja is bigger than I usually reach for when drinking IPAs. Most in this weight class have to much sweetness for my liking. The guys at Pipeworks did a good job of drying this version up and it's refreshing seeing some of the old varietals like cascade being highlighted. Citra Ninja gets all the talk but I think I prefer Cascade Ninja. Two cents.

Cascade Ninja pours a very hazy orange color with a small head. The aroma offers a big citrus kick, with some piney notes and sweet malts. The taste is sweeter than the nose, with the more candied aspects of the hops coming out in a big way, along with earthy and spicy characters. There's also sweet malts and a nice alcohol kick. Big grapefruit peel on the finish.

dark orange, nice head on top. smell is absolutely beautiful with a dark chocolate-candy orange aroma right off the top. those candies are awesome! this is awesome how it smells just like it.... otherwise, sweet biscuit-malt....
bitterness from the hops, but still getting some of that dark chocolate- candy orange taste from the aroma. can taste some of the alcohol in it, but it melds well with the malt and hops.
overall, a very nice brew. I had never heard of Pipeworks but their stuff is very good...

22 oz. bottle, with no apparent bottled on date present. Handwritten Batch #240 written on the back label. Another variety of hop for another beer in the ninja series, although they have no changed the label and omitted the word 'ninja' from the label. I wish they'd kept the old label, but such is life and beer. Expectations are high based on Pipeworks' reputation for great beers.

Poured into an over-sized wine glass.

A - Pours a nice bright burnt sienna orange colored body with two fingers of fluffy creamy off-white head. Looks pretty damn nice; on par with the rest in the series. Some nice scattered lacing.

S - Smell is on par with the others also; it has that classic ninja smell to it. Tropical floral hops, peaches, grapefruit, apricots, some cream, some soapiness, hint of spicy rye heat, and just a hint of caramel malt to balance things out.

T - Taste is more dirty and earthy than it is floral, but still nicely tropical and fruity. Bitter grapefruit hops, pine resin, peaches, earth, caramel malt, some peppery rye, & mild alcohol heat on the end.

M - Feel is smooth and creamy, and ends bitter and resinous on the palate.

Overall, a worthy addition to the ninja family, albeit probably not my favorite. More dirty and earthy than some of the others, but it still has that classic ninja feel to it. 9.50% abv is well masked, but there is still a hint of heat. In all, it's another worthy offering from Pipeworks.

Pipeworks Cascade Ninja ---4/5.

Poured from a 22 oz bottle into a Half Acre tulip.

A- pours a dark caramel with a 3" off-white head. Big trails and clumps of lacing remain on the glass.

S- caramel, toast, orange, citrus rind, some spice and pine.

T- caramel and toasted malts, bitter citrus rind, spicy, earthy and bitter pine hops.

M- medium body and carbonation. Slick, syrupy and with some creaminess.

O- good edition to the NvU series but my least favorite of the bunch so far. Noy as citrusy as the others and that's my thing.

Slightly hazed bright orange color. Active carbonation and and once of white head. Little lacing.

It's bursting with juicy tropical mango, lemon, and grapefruit aromas. The mango is ripe and sweet.

True to the ninja way it's a hoppy beast. Fresh and sugary mango and grapefruit. Light bready malt. The finish is long and tastes like a mouthful of skittles. It gets fruitier as it warms.

Mouthfeel is full, juicy, and sticky. Clean.

This one runs a close second to it's citra kin. A+

bomber into tulip.

A: very cloudy. pours a pinkish hue. head is bubbly and slightly off-white. good retention. tons of sticky lacing.

S: minor oxidation. smells fruity. significant malt presence. not getting blown away by the cascade hops here.

T: pretty fruity. pear, melon, grapes. decent amount of caramel. especially in the finish. similar to the nose, really not blown away by the hops which is a bit of a shame. regardless, not a bad flavor.

M: good carb. medium/full body.

D: good, not great. really a bit disappointed seeing the hype around the ninja brews. wish I was more taken. I gotta give this a pass mostly based on price point and hype.
