A: Pale golden color with a nice head that lingers a bit.

S: Some interesting lemon/lime peel notes with some slight pineapple and plastic.

T: Upfront a light tart lemon/lime juice that has light minty taste and mouth feel. . Sorachi Ace and lime definitely apparent but are in a nice balance. Could drink this a lot during the summer months.

M: Crisp and delightful with a minty mouth feel and feeling on the lips.

O: Really enjoy this beer and hope to see them brew this again this summer and enjoy it outside by the pool or something.

Poured from bottle into pint glass. Date of review is 2/15/14.

Appearance- Never seen anything like this before. One finger of paper white head that leaves great lacing. This beer has a TON of sediment all throughout. It almost looks like peach/apricot preserves. SO freaking cool looking.

Smell- I get limes and hops right away. This is followed by green apple and honey. Not much other then that.

Taste- LIMES! I taste all parts of the lime at once. I get the zest, juice and pulp all at once. Hops are present with very low bitterness. Fruit forward with the IPA taking the backseat.

Mouthfeel- The limes seriously thin out the usual film that comes along with IPAs. Fruit punches you in the mouth at first and that's followed by slight bitterness in the back.

Overall- Solid beer...I would drink every single one that was given to me, but I would not trade for this beer. Really cool idea from some solid breweries. I am so glad to have had this.

Bottle (2013)

Hazed dark orange with a very persistent bone-white head of big bubbles. Sticky and lined lacing left down the glass.

Very lime juice and lime zest forward in the aroma, along with some floral and biscuit notes, especially as the beer warms. Interesting, and I certainly have never smelled a beer quite like this before.

As with the aroma, there is lots and lots of lime flavor in this one. It has the acidic, biting, fresh lime character from a fresh, juicy lime. There isn't a lot else here as the lime is fairly dominant, though there's some cracker malt as well.

Medium bodied with high carbonation. Very appropriate.

Tasty and interesting, but this might be tough to drink a lot of. The acidic character and biting flavor of the fresh lime is somewhat overwhelming. This is probably a successful execution of their vision, but weird doesn't equal good, unfortunately. This one just wasn't for me.

A copper color emenates out the 22oz bottle, I wish it were 12oz for a newish brewery, but I digress, white head on it about 1/2". Not much in terms of retention. Lacing didn't really happen. Limes, hops, this is to be expected, so nothing I'm looking to beat the beer up over.

Aroma was lime juice and simcoe hops. Its different. No malt aroma noticeable. The Sorachi Ace, Simcoe and lime thing is also different, and good, but a little bit limited in terms of developing some complexity or variety of flavors discernable with all the citric lemony limeness that prevent other hop flavors from coming out. There's caramel in the mouthfeel, but that's like at a 1:99 ratio with the lime and bitter flavors competing and dominating it.

Its a good beer, but at $10 a pop, I probably would not repeat. But I would if that was the price for a 6 pack. . . possibly.

A - Dark orange and brown with light lemon accents. Beer actually looks a bit flat for a Pipeworks beer. Small head that settled down to foam on the sides of the glass 4

S - Lime juice, lime zest, slight bitter hops, and caramel malt. It looks like someone put some of their margarita into a DIPA but in a good way

T - Upfront, there is bitter grapefruit, pine and lime. Caramel malt comes in the middle and keeps it nice and balance. Lime zest comes thru in the finish. This adds an interesting twist to the beer that I really liked.

M - Medium body with light carbonation. Slight caramely stickiness to it. Finish is zesty and slightly astrigent

O - Another great DIPA from Pipeworks. Great hops bitterness balanced with caramel malt and the lime adds a nice new twist. I really thought the lime was integrated near perfectly to add a new dimension to the beers.

(Served in a tulip)

A- This beer pours a slightly hazy woody orange body with a gentle carbonation and a lumpy beige head

S- the lime juice aroma comes through during the pour. There is some woody green hops in the finish but they are a bit softer.

T- There is a cream flavor that leads to a citrus pith and acidic lime flavor that turns tangy with some Vienna malt flavors underneath.

M- This beer has a medium-light mouthfeel with a gentle fizz and no alcohol heat.

O- This beer has a full lime flavor but the hops are a bit softer and can't hang with the citrus. Interesting but a bit odd.

Batch 136

A: The lime addition has made it lighter in color than other PW ipas - a kind of murky yellowish orange, or very pale orange. Lesser head than expected, not a lot of carbonation coming from the bottom of the glass. The lacing is spotty and retention minimal.

S: Very interesting, the lime works really well with the hops. Big blast of lime zest up front along with the spicy floral and light citrus flavors from the sorachi ace. There is a nice pink grapefruit zest, grapefruit rind, fresh pine, and some tropical fruit astringency. Not overly aromatic.

T: As in the nose I am getting a lot of sorachi ace and tons of lime, but in a good balanced way. Incredibly refreshing. There is less hop complexity than the nose - the pine and citrus fruits are less present.

P: Under carbonated, sadly feels a bit flat. Lighter side of medium body with a nice lingering finish. Very easy drinking.

O: Love the lime and hop blend in this beer especially on the nose. The three hop varieties blend well with the very fresh, hand-squeezed lime juice. A lot of work went into this, and it tastes like it. Wish it were in a can - great summer beer.

Clear but dingy yellow-brown color with a fleeting white head and no lacing.

Smells of lemon, grapefruit, and lots of lime.

The flavors at mostly citrus- lime in the forefront and finish. Lemon rind. Grapefruit. Grainy malt.

Mouthfeel is medium-light with moderate carbonation.

Eh. Pipeworks is just killing it in the IPA department but this one was just good, not great. The lime was a bit overdone but that's what I was expecting.

Batch # 197

a: golden amber. one finger white head that recedes relatively quickly

s: floral, citrusy (orange/grapefruit) hops; some piney hops come through as it warms. slight touch of lime in the background which gets more pronounced as it warms.

t: Starts off with citrusy (orange/grapefruit) hops. Then the lime comes in midway. Lime flavor strengthens considerably as it finishes to the point of being almost harsh at the end. As it warms the harshness increases

m: medium carbonation. medium mouthfeel. finishes slightly dry

o: Glad I had a chance to try this but I'm not a fan of it. Not sure if the lime juice was too much and they should have just stuck with lime zest to give it a nice lime accent but the lime is overbearing in the taste. It's not overly bitter or sour but just harshness imo. I'll stick to key lime pie for my lime fix.
