Bottle (2013)

Acquired via trade
Thanks, Hugonaut13!

Hazy peach with a fairly small head. Sticky.

Light fruit (distinct banana and very mild lemon) and mild grain in the aroma. Simple and straightforward.

More wheat in the flavor than in the aroma, combined with some banana and a hint of a kiwi character, though more emerges on the lingering finish. Nice.

Medium bodied with lower carbonation. Could use more bubbles.

Very tasty witbier, though the fruit isn't particularly dominant. Solid. Lingering kiwi finish is nice.

S - Smells like a wit with light strawberry and kiwi presence to it. It's there but not much

T - Tastes just like a normal wit with a light wheat and spice. Light strawberry presence on the backend that gives it a light sweetness

M - Lighter body with a nice sweet finish

O - Decent witbeer with a light strawberry presence that gives it some sweetness but not much. 3

(Served in a tulip glass)
Batch 173
A- This beer pours a murky woody yellow body with a big snow white head that sticks to the glass with each sip. This beer is a bit to murky to see much carbonation.

S- The yeasty dried strawberry aroma has some unripe kiwi notes and a sweaty wheat note in the finish that takes on a little tartness as it opens.

T- the taste of dry field corn is mostly DMS with some fruity tart sumac flavors that lead to unripe kiwi, green woody notes and a quickly fading strawberry hint. The finish is slightly fruity with a fruity acidic taste that lingers.

M- The medium mouthfeel has a tight scrubbing little fizz but no alcohol heat noticed.

O- The odd corn DMS gets in the way but the nice sumac notes help to cut it a good bit. The fruity flavors are not really bright fruit character and it dries out even more as it opens.

Second pour, swirled the yeast and added it, the head was extremely creamy with sheets of lace coating the glass in a thick opaque film. Murky opaque orange body, sturdy head that never dissipates.

Softly fruity aroma, first splash out of the bottle has some distinctive strawberry and kiwi notes, but the second pour somewhat less so with the yeast added.

Some low level green strawberry tartness, slight phenolic spice, creamy smooth wheat, light bitterness in the aftertaste. Fruitiness is pleasant, though not strongly defined as strawberry and kiwi. Overall enjoyable, will try again if there are future batches.

Bottle portrays some pointy-toothed, Marilyn Manson lookin'-like cartoon dude with a jester hat and a hand of fruit and throwing weapon cards. Okay Jeff, what the fuck?? Haha. Haven't been this freaked out by a label since Vas Deferens. *shudder*

Appearance. Pours a rich, hazy, honey-peach with a very thin head that fades almost immediately.

Smell. Red berries, oranges, lime and kiwi, sweet wheat and some sweet gingerbread spice. A little bit of fruity yeast as well.

Taste. Nice tangy red berry sourness, belgian yeast and spices ...spices that aren't in your face and overpowering beyond anything else in the beer. Huh. Anyways, there's a touch of sweet wheat there, some tart kiwi. Nice an sour and refreshing.

Mouthfeel. Medium+ body, medium amount of fine carbonation.

Overall. These Pipeworks guys don't know how to brew a spiced beer. They need to learn to dump that shit in there by the bucket like it's hops in Younger Pliny's Sunshine or something. Jeeze.

Thanks Jeffo!

750 ml bottle, with handwritten Batch #173 written on the label. Finally decided to pick this one up after looking at it for quite a while.

Poured into a Duvel tulip.

A - Pours a bright golden colored body with four plus big fizzy fingers of off-white head that audibly sizzles it's way out of existence entirely. Some yeast sediment visible in the glass. Looks very nice. Pours a darker murkier color as the bottle goes on.

S - The smell is very nice - some funky Belgian yeast presence, vinous grapey wine-like character, and some fruitiness, but I would probably never guess strawberries or kiwis without knowing.

T - Taste follows the nose nicely, but better. Tart / sour fruity character imparted from the strawberry and kiwi. Definitely tastes like more of a sour to me at this point than it does a Belgian wit, but it's delicious nonetheless. Becomes much more yeasty tasting as the bottle goes on.

M - Feel is crisp, lightly dry, and mildly tart. Medium light bodied with good carbonation.

Overall, another wonderful beer from Pipeworks. Glad I finally picked this one up, and I look forward to trying their other variations on the wit beer.

Pipeworks Paradisiac ---4/5.

750ml.

A: Pours a hazed mellow orange with a nice white head.

S: Yeasty, cloves, a bit of coriander, vanilla, pale malt, vague fruitiness.

T: Lightly chalky yeast, cloves and mild peppery esters, wheat, subtle fruity acidity, bready and somewhat dry in the finish.

M: Light-bodied with moderate carbonation.

O: This tasted ok, but the almost total lack of fruit flavor and aroma was very disappointing. I love kiwis and could not taste one bit of kiwi in this.
