Pours a slightly hazy orange with a dense white head which leaves heavy lacing. Nose starts with ripe green herbal centennial hops. This is intertwined by a graham crack malty base with plenty of caramel as well as dryness on the nose. Taste features fruity hops that range from notes of grapefruit and melon to pine and more resinous bitter notes. The mid palate has a nice sweet grainy profile, this all comes together with a very dry finish that leaves little lingering bitterness. Mouthfeel is moderate with high level of carbonation. It is unfortunate to say this is the first I have tried from the Ninja series, but it is certainly a tasty brew.

650 mL bottle poured into a snifter. Batch 149.

Appearance - Burnt orange amber. Small white head. Thin collar.

Taste - Grapefruit. Some orange. Very grapefruity though. Malty caramel. Astringent strange aftertaste.

Mouthfeel - Very malty. Bitter. Booze? Some astringent flavor.

Overall - Not impressed by this series so far.

Translucent apple juice colored body with a quarter inch of off white head. No lacing.

The pine smacks me in the face. It's extremely fresh and woodsy. Lighter notes of orange and caramel.

Holy hell it's bitter. Resinous pine dominates. The caramel malt adds light support but it is weighted heavily on the bitter side.

Full and creamy mouthfeel. It is slightly astringent.

Another great ninja from Pipeworks. Definitely the most bitter and abrasive, but still awesome.

Batch #149

a: Slightly hazy dark copper. Thick, frothy white head

s: some orange. juicy citrus hops. sweet caramel malts

t: piney hops & pine resin are dominant. Most bitter ninja I've had. Seem to be some citrus notes but they seem to be watered down to me.

m: light carbonation with a very dry finish. medium body

o: This is like Stone RuinTen jr to me - piney hop bitterness extraordinaire. However, Stone is much better to me overall. If you can't find RuinTen then this one should satisfy your dry & bitter DIPA needs.

Hazy saturated orange, sheets of lace coat the glass, lasting foam on the surface.

Floral, resiny hop aroma, stinky dankity-dank.

Resiny and medium bodied, light malt sweetness before the bitter resinous hop oils take over and hang on long into the aftertaste. Leafy dandelion greens, orange peel, earthy and green, lots of chlorophyll happening. Overall it's a nice IIPA, gets a little boozy towards the end as it warms.
