Earth, both rich and refreshing, the bright juices of your primordial civilizations quench even the coldest desires of deep space. Succumb and offer us the sweet orange flesh of your humanity and the chocolate longing of your young will. This batch is rich, and chocolatey with a delicate orange tang.

Really enjoyed this beer, it delivers on what it promises in the title & is DEEE-licous.

L: Jet black color, two finger brown head, amazing thin lacing, light carbonation.

S: Chocolate, orange peel, alcohol. Smells divine.

T: Chocolate, orange peel, alcohol.

F: Light bodied (surprisingly), nicely flavored. Missing some body here.

O: If it had a serious body, this could have been great.

Fall 2014 vintage; drank 11/21/14 @ the Yarchives.

Black/brown hue.

Dark tan head; decent lace.

Banana & fresh earth nose.

Medium thick mouthfeel.

Banana, mild orange citrus & mocha flavors up front; this tastes like a fruit forward Belgian stout!

Candle wax & orange notes emerge as this warms, as does a mild booze heat.

Not as revelatory as I remembered, but certainly worth a quaff.

2017 bottle consumed 12/10/17. Black pour with thin, fizzy head, no retention, no lacing. Nose of chocolate and vanilla. Taste bring a hint of orange that meshes well with the chocolate, slight booziness. Above average body and higher than expected carbonation.

Batch 547-550, bottled 2014-10-31.
There's a bit of head initially, but it quickly disappears, after which the only sign of carbonation is a few tiny bubbles around the edge. The bulk of the stout looks dark and heavy, but it is oddly watery-looking around the edges. There's no lacing, but the legs look gritty and sugary.
The smell is almost all chocolatey, roasty malt. There might be a hint of orange in the background, but it's subtle. Then again, this bottle is two years old, so the orange may have faded.
Flavor is similar. Bitter, dark chocolate. Roasted malt. Hint of smoke. Barely any orange.
Mouthfeel is probably the best part. It's soft and chewy.
It's not my favorite in the Abduction series, but it's a good stout. I don't know how often Pipeworks brews this variant, but if you find one, drink it fresh. It'll survive being cellared, but the extra time doesn't add anything.
