Poured from a 22 oz bottle into a teku.

Pours a hazy light orange with a 2" white head. Big trails and clumps of lacing.

Tart citrus, grapefruit and lemon, peppercorns, light pine

Light sweet pale malts, tart grapefruit zest, light lemon, peppercorns and spices.

Favorite Saison from Pipeworks to date. Nice grapefruit and citrus notes and enough tartness and peppercorns to balance the Saison.

750 mL bottle poured into a snifter.

Appearance - Golden orange body. Hazy. Big white head. Nice lacing and excellent retention.

Smell - Really herbal. Grassy all over. Citrus. Some yeastiness and pale malt.

Taste - The herbal character is diminished up front, giving way to more citrus. Grainy cracker malt in the middle. The grassy herbs come back and linger in the finish. Bitter, too.

Mouthfeel - Medium body. Well carbonated. Quite bitter.

Overall - I'm not sold on the combination of flavors, but it drinks well enough otherwise.

Bottle (2013)

Thanks, Hugonaut13!

Slightly hazed light golden with a huge, creamy, very persistent, off-white head. Small and tight bubbles with decent stick left down the glass. Without a doubt, an appropriately pretty saison.

Good amounts of grapefruit zest and juicy flesh in the aroma, along with mild grain, some lemon, saison yeast, and a very mild mustiness. Very appropriate.

The flavor follows the aroma. Saison yeast and mild grain lead the way but are backed up nicely by distinct citrus juice/flesh/and zest. Nicely balanced and incredibly drinkable. A great summer beer.

Medium bodied with high carbonation, but nothing distracting or detracting.

Really quite tasty. Very impressed with Pipeworks' quality and range, lately. Very nice.
