On draft into a New Belgium snifter. Dark brown pour and pitch black in the glass. About 1 finger of mocha-colored foam on top with lots of big bubbles. Turned into a thin lacing after a minute or so. Super sweet aroma consisting of toasted wood, mild bourbon, dark cherries, and hints of spice. The bourbon aroma is definitely noticable but not comparable to a typical BBA beer. The aroma on this is much more balanced than most. Let's see what this baby tastes like, and...wow. Super tart. Just an awesome amount of sticky, dark cherry flavor tangled in with a perfect bourbon kick. Actually, the bourbon seems to take a back seat to the cherries. Also getting notes of oak, vanilla, and baking spices. On the thinner side of the spectrum as far as BBA imperial stouts go, but it's nice. Chewey enough without being syrup.

Overall, very good. For anyone who's ever loved Big Lushious, give this one a try.

Like a big old chocolate covered cherry. Flavors are amazing here, a slight bit too carbonated but I bet it will age wonderfully.

You had me at cherry and bourbon. Throw on an "imperial" and I'm truly seduced by the mere imagine of this beer's taste. One thing's for sure- this is one stout that I'm dying to sink my teeth into!

As Sexual Dracula cozies up inside the glass, it comes alive with a billowing khaki head that dissolves back into the beer rather quickly. Sprite at first, the beer quickly smoothens out with an ominous stillness with a quiet calder of creme that simmers through the center. Its tawny bronze edges show a masculine translucence that its black body likes to hide.

The common roasted grain and burnt sugar aromas of bigger stout are alive and well with those early whiffs. But a sinister turn to a tangy and piquant "bing" cherry scent steers the nose onto an unexpected path. As the underlying dark chocolate, coffee and charred wood character engulfs the cherries, it does so with accompanying vanilla, nutty and thin caramel wafts.

While the cherry aromas may be bigger than the beer in aroma, the opposite is true in taste- deeply rooted in the roasty taste of espresso, bitter chocolate, roasted walnut, heavily charred toast and black-strap molasses are soothing, smooth and rounded by the unmistakable taste of bourbon. Yet with those vanillans, caramels and wood spices- bourbon can have that cherry-flavored alcohol taste, which is completely exploited in Sexy-Drak's finish where the tangy tartness of the fruit closes like chocolate covered cherry candies.

Full bodied to start, the beer lightens considerably across the palate. The wood spices and fruit acidity breaks apart the beer's already dryish tone and dissolves what's left of its sweetness early, only to expose the spicy alcohol, flinty texture and mild roast-derived astringencies. However a greater drinkability is achieved through all this that most imperial stout cannot claim.

Sexy Drak is both a monster in its rustic and raw nature but is also refined and gentlemanly in its approach. And if you're lucky like me, you'll get sucked right in!

Sexual Dracula [BBL Cherry Stout; 12%] on tap at Country Boy

black; opaque; nearly minimal head and lacing

Flavor: Chocolate, cherry and dark bread with bourbon. Fairly rich. Bittersweet, with sweet winning out until the aftertaste. BBL not as obvious as usual. Lingering BBL + chocolate + over-ripe cherry aftertaste. Not meshing as well as I might hope.

Medium-full body with low carbonation.

O: enjoyed but glad I didn't order a full pint.

32 oz mason jar from Country Boy Day at Continental Liquors. Poured into a nonic pint glass and the rest I sipped straight from the mason jar.

A - brilliant jet black with hints of deep cherry gracing the bottom of the jar. Head poured massive with nice fluff and settled into a lovely ring of lace leaving fairly good stick.

S - man, this aroma rocks! Big stout notes of dark roasted malt and caramel. A hint of cherries. Ripe black cherry. Big whiffs of bourbon goodies: toasted but sweet coconut, vanilla, Kentucky oak, and a slight booziness. This thing is one of the best smelling ales I've ever had.

T - not quite as insanely grand as the nose but still very solid. Big malt and grain, caramel, vanilla, coconut roast, cherry, black cherry, with an oak barrel booziness in the finish.

M - this is the only fault. With the flavors this thing is packing it'd go through the roof with a thicker feel and texture. It was more like 5.5% stout thickness instead of massive RIS thickness. Still a very easy drinking ale for its size. Just don't forget the abv.

O - I enjoyed Sexual Dracula. It could have been much thicker for sure, but over all it had all the right ingredients to be a solid imperial cherry stout. But hey, these are great guys creating some great brews.. I'm sure Sexual Dracula will only get better the more batches they get under their belt. This is outstanding and with a thicker mouthfeel its one of the best big stouts one will ever drink.
