Caught somewhere between an American Brown Ale and an American-style Porter, while also borrowing Stout-like roasty elements- this inaugural beer will surely appease any fan of dark American ales.

Delivered with a deep bark-brown color and good clarity, the beer forms a creamy and dainty off-white head that clings to the edges as the middle portion of the foam stance dissipates. Moderate lacing allows the beer to carry a very cask ale-like appearance overall.

The typical nutty aromas of Brown Ales are met with a bittersweet chocolate note and light coffee roast. Very clean is scent, the beer boasts the most modest of caramelized maltiness and allows the darker grains to command the nose.

Dry toffee flavors boarder on the burnt caramel side and push the beer past what is common for even drier American Brown Ale. The dry roast of dark coffee, cocoa flavor, and woody/spicy hop flavor all reinforce the flavors that edge ever closer to Stouts. The clean fermentation yields a dry malt taste with very little influence from yeast- no noticable esters or spices.

Medium bodied to start, the beer's early carbonation proves fleeting as the beer develops toward a dry roasty finish of slight alcohol warmth and slight roasty astringency.

Like Dogfish Head India Brown Ale and Flying Dog Gonzo Porter, Country Boy's Amos Moses declaires a deeper roast character and restrained nutty sweetness, giving it a classic dry American, yeast-neutral demeanor.

Poured into a 16 ounce pint glass from a growler. Reasonable head that dissipated fairly quickly. Dark, dark brown. Bitter chocolate hints. Smooth mouthfeel. Very decent brown ale from a newish brewery. I look forward to sampling some of their other styles. Support you local brewers!
