In typical Blonde fashion this American Blonde is Blonde in color.( New drinking game everytime I say Blonde...drink up!) The head was thick and cohesive with a decent retention.

The scent had a cracker, biscuit, cardboard and grain temperament but was slightly less satisfying than expectation.

The taste was strong in the grains and dry malts. A grassy hop character finished the cracker and biscuit like mid palate.

The feel was dry, smooth with a limited carbonated feel and a moderate thickness.

Overall it's a pretty good beer, just won't light the world ablaze.

When ordering Blonde Ales, what's expected is a semi-wheaty golden beer with a light crisp body and balanced hop character. That's not this beer at all! This a beer of Pale Ale proportions and strength and only borrows the light and crisp body from that of common Blonde Ales.

Even as the beer is delivered to the bar, the ruddish color is mostly of rusty copper that's only golden in highlights around the edge. A scant, slightly off white head decorates the crown with intermitten pockets of foam. Lacing somehow delivers with rings of lace that far exceeds the expectations from any head character.

Hoppy aromas of citrus and freshly mulled herbs fill the nose with a zesty and floral scent. Background notes of carmel and apples help to round out the hop dominant nose, yet in moderate intensity.

The simple flavor spread closely mimicks the note except for the greater separation between the crisp and clean malt profile and the slightly resiny hop character that starts off with orange zest and grapefruit but intensifies into piney and grassy bitterness in finish. Periphreal flavors of apples and grain add intrigue, but are largely unnoticed.

Light to moderate in body, the pronounced crisp and clean body is void of unresolved sweetness or dextrine and allows for an easy session. But the low-lying carbonation allows the beer to sit heavily on the tonuge for a greater impression of weight and for a fuller depth of taste. Slight warmth in finish is amplified by the bold dryness of grain and hops.

Perhaps more of an extra pale, Pale Ale in the beer's coloring, balance, and recipe formulation but the light body is much appreciated. Where I normally like beers that are lightly carbonated, I feel that higher carbonation here could give better foam character and help pull the beer from the tongue for greater refreshment.
