A: Pours a virtually opaque onyx with a creamy, lingering white head.
S: Mild, somewhat muted aromas of cream, dark chocolate, coffee, and earthy hops fill the nose. Compared to most nitrogenated stouts, this has a huge aroma, but those expecting a more assertive dark malt character on the nose may be somewhat disappointed.
T: Notes of heavy cream, molasses, moist earth, roasted grain, dark chocolate, coffee, vanilla bean, and earthy hops wash across the palate. The finish is smooth and dry, with notes of chocolate, roasted grain, coffee, and heavy cream dominating.
M: As one would expect from a nitro stout, this beer is smooth, silky, milky, and creamy in the mouth with a pleasantly dry, relatively brief finish. Carbonation is discreet. Alcohol presence is non-existent. Very pleasant.
O: Although this beer has been listed as an American stout, it is really more of an Irish dry stout. The smooth, milky, yet dry body and emphasis on creamy, chocolatey flavors fit the style perfectly. So, for those who are expecting the typical American stout character, which strikes a balance between zesty, citrusy, herbal hops and toasty malt, you will be disappointed. Those who appreciate smooth, sessionable British and Irish stouts, though, should be enthralled by this beer, as it is every bit as good as Guinness on-tap, if not a bit better.

The quentessential American Stout: Dark, dry roast flavor with low-lying caramelized sweetness that's surplanted by zesty hop flavor and bitterness. A sure-fire for Stout lovers!
This nitro dispensed version delivers a dense blanket of ivory colored foam that layers with tightly knit carbonation and foam character while retaining extensively and lacing with separate rings that denote each sip. A very handsome looking beer!
Muted aromas of dry chocolate and French roast coffees bury beneath the nitro-infussed barrier and give slight impressions of charred molasses hearty sweetness. Woody hops give a slight spicy and citrusy note to the aroma profile and help to shape the early impressions of the beer.
Bolder in taste than in scent, the robust roast character come alive with bittersweet chocolates, French roast coffee blend, dry-grain, and with citrusy and woody hops that lurk behind. Slightly vegetal at mid palate, but the short lived distraction soon gives way to a roasty finish of coffee and mild ash.
Rich creaminess early on, largely due to the dense nitrogen laced foam, is quickly ushered into a considerably lighter and highly drinkable mid palate before turning bone dry in finish with mild alcohol warmth and roasty-dry aftertaste.
With slightly less heaft than Sierra Nevada's Stout, this American Stout stands up well against the competition. Guinness lovers will surely want to give this Nitro-infussed version a try. Next time I'll have to try the regular carboanted version to see how the aroma come out and how the head character holds up.
