This pours like a good stout should with a nice Linux darkness and a cloudy thick foam for a head.

The aroma is a little charred with a fruity starchy nose. Light earthy fruit with a creamy sweetness there's a cardboardish aroma.

This is said to be a raspberry stout yet my palate perceives blueberry instead. Natural, earthy and musty blueberry mixed with a lactose creaminess settles in with a coffee roast and malty char.

The feel is full and easy but seems a little high on carbonation.

This had a very natural flavor with some tepid stout character. My wife loved it but I found it just above average.

The quintessential American Stout just got a fruity face lift: Dark roast flavor and light caramelized sweetness brings on board the complexies that only raspberry provides. Not overdone, the fruit lurks in the background and offers surprises around every corner.

As with the standard Stampin' Ground Stout, the beer delivers a frothy blanket of ivory stained foam that layers onto the beer with the low-lying texture of cream. Clingy lace provides decorative patterns as the beer falls. As with the original version, this is a very handsome looking beer!

Aromas of dry chocolate and French roast coffees are accompanied by raspberries and tart fruit acidity. But the underpinnings of charred molasses woody hops and slightly citrusy hops help to shape the early aromatics of the fruited ale.

Its robust taste is roasty in character and come alive with unmistakable raspberries that peak through the bittersweet taste of chocolate, coffee, and burnt grain. The citrus taste of grapefruit couples with the raspberry additions for an oddly compelling fruity and acidic finish that takes the mind away from finishing roast and coffee-derived bitterness.

Creamy early, the beer quickly ushers in a medium body despite its strong taste for a highly drinkable middle palate just before turning roasty-dry in finish with mild alcohol warmth sharp fruit acidity and light pectin astringency to join the roast after textures.

Much like the Stampin' Ground, the stout underpinnings are the foundation of this beer. But the raspberries lurk behind the malts and peak through ever so often to give a playful glimpse into a summery tone that this beer can take. It's a pleasant enough beer with a quirky surprise from time to time.
