Came here after friends from both Mellow Mushroom and Beer Trappe suggested I stop by for a beer. Ended up enjoying MANY beers here! When the price is right and the beers tapping are "can't pass up", it makes for an enjoyable evening at a BrewPub. Here are a few other things I found:

Walking into "darkness" a low-lit, completely wooden brewery bar is upon us. Two chalk boards make up the tap lists and all of the tap handles are wooden. They definitely had a country/farm theme going on. I think I also caught a glimpse of a bourbon barrel sitting to age in the corner of the room with chairs protecting it?

All beers were served in the correct style of glassware with extra care being taken to make sure they were clean. Bar was clean as well and felt like I was sitting in a home if living out in a Kentucky farm.

Service couldn't have been any better! One man (one of the owners) ran the show and did a great job. Not only was he able to keep multiple conversations going with all of the guests, no one had a close to empty glass or looking for another round. That was talent.

Selection blew me out of the water as well! With their 12+ beers they had to offer being wide variety for styles, they had Guest taps including Against the Grain, Three Floyds, Bells, and many others.

Would definitely recommend for anyone coming into Lexington! One of my favorites of the city.

Awesome place, awesome brews. The place was super packed and had crowds spilling into the parking lot on a Sunday night. The bartender was great. She gave out samples of everything I asked even though the line to order was 3-4 people deep.

Their barrel aged beers were very tasty and the experimental brews were also good. The habanero cougar bait (Nacho Bait, iirc) was the best habanero beer I've ever tasted.

I'd love to come visit when the crowds were a bit lighter and tamer. Pumpkin carving contest had everyone riled up.

Ah, Country Boy. This place is fun! The squat little building is housed in a small little industrial park area close to UK. You would have no idea there was a brewery back there unless you were looking for one. A food truck was parked out front on my visit with some great looking burgers. A couple picnic tables sat out in the old parking lot in front of the entrance. The "L" shaped bar sat, probably, 18 people and a smattering of bar tables could hold another 40-50. Eclectic beer stuff decorated the walls.

The staff was incredibly friendly and welcoming. The tap list was extensive with 15 in house offerings and another 10 or so guest taps. The quality of Country Boy's Brewing is such that there is no need to order any guest taps. They brewed everything from gose to IPAs to bourbon barrel browns, all of which were delicious. Not only is the staff friendly but the locals that frequent the place are just the same. Everyone knows everyone and good conversations were had all night long.

I can't recommend Country Boy high enough. The beer is A+ while the people are even better. The spot is flat out fun. Go there!

Country Boy has the most freedom to brew what they want and with whichever ingredients they choose to add to get just the taste they're striving for. Add the experience of their brewers, and you have the best brewery in Lexington. DH and the fellas, and some fabulous ladies, will take care of you.

A great location, exactly what Lexington needs.

Went before (and after) a University of Kentucky Basketball game at Rupp Arena. Quick tip - parl at Country Boy and walk to the Arena! They don't charge for parking, even on game nights! so, free parking, good beer, close to downtown!

The Boys had 24 taps when I went in Feb 2014, 12 of them were their own brews, 12 guest taps.

No food by the Boys themselves, but you can almost always find one of Lexington's finest food trucks in the parking lot.

Go on a summer night and enjoy the patio and Giant Jenga!

Country Boy Brewing is a brewery and tap room for people who love craft beer more than they love ambiance. The building is located in a commercial neighborhood, parking is ample by 5 o'clock.
There are 24 taps at the bar, usually half or just over half are dedicated to their own brews, the rest are rounded out with guest taps. A small outdoor patio area also has a handful of duplicate taps. Bartenders are knowledgeable and friendly.
Food from outside venues is allowed, restaurants that deliver can bring you food, and there is a regular schedule of local food trucks in the evenings.
These guys' beer can best be described as 'experimental.' There are not a lot of what craft beer fans would consider 'standards' on the tap list, and if you are a fan of bourbon barrel aged brews, there are usually multiple selections available, rotating seasonally.
Growler/howler fill specials are 12-4 PM on Saturdays and Sundays, limited brews are available for $5/$10.
During special events, the small size can create for crowding issues, so plan ahead if you're visiting for one of them.

Impressed by the selection of beers at this place and furthermore by the neighborly staff and servers. This is the type of place I wish I had in my hometown. Met a lot of homebrewers there. Beers were good to great. If in Lex again, this is the first place I will go to. Under rated.

I toured the Bourbon trail and asked most of the tour guides for a good local brewery. The consensus was Country Boy. I tried their Jalapeno Porter and Bourbon barrel aged stout. I ended up bringing a growler of the stout and porter back for myself and a couple of 1L BBS back to MN for my co-workers.

Great little hole in the wall brewer. Good food cart outside and you can bring the food into the bar. Stop by if you are in Lexington.

country boy brewing offered a pretty extensive line-up of well crafted beers on a recent visit. esp impressed with their BA offerings- bourbon barrel rx & sexual dracula. very relaxed dive bar atmosphere in terms of fixtures & furniture: stools, barrels, antlers, couple of tvs for UK sports. focus is on the beers, obviously. carry in or delivery food only. when beer is this good, that food model works.

This places makes me proud to live in Kentucky! Hidden in Lexington is this awesome brewery that is getting very popular in a hurry. When you enter the pub, you are plunged into a dark room with just enough light to see what is happening and, personally, I love it. There is no pretension in this place. They serve beer and voila! The staff is friendly and helpful if you have questions about their selections.
The note for the food comes from the fact that CBB does not serve its own food but has people coming to the pub and serve food to the customers, so it is hard to judge them on the food in my opinion.
Anyway, this is a great place for local beers and, if you are in Lexington, this is a must for beer heads.

This is a relaxed, beer-centric brewpub. 9 guests taps, includiNg 2 from Three Floyds; another 13 CBB taps. A wide range of beers even with just the in house (CBB) beers. Friendly service and customers. Bar, table and patio seating, with outside seats both in front of the entrance and in back of the pub. Dog friendly.
Highly recommended!

Country Boy is honestly one of the best breweries in the country. Their gift for barrel-aged beers is virtually unmatched, and their selection as well as pricing are incredibly reasonable. Country Boy could easily be the south's best brewery, and I'd highly encourage anyone within driving distance to visit them. Granted, the brewery and tasting room are understated at best, but the beer itself is magnificent. An absolute must for any true beer fan.

My favorite brewery in Kentucky.

This place is what Lexington has been waiting for. They have an excellent selection, quality, and consistency. The Brown Chicken / Brown Cow and Shotgun Wedding are great. Their BA selection is also great. I'm a fan.

My only complaint is the lack of windows. Its kind of like a dungeon, but that's certainly not a reason to avoid this place.

They also have outstanding selections from other breweries. My past few visits had 10 Jolly Pumpkins on tap and bottles of Zombie Dust. Need I say more.

I have wanted to visit this brewery since I heard of its opening. This visit did not disappoint. Once you turn onto Chair Avenue you immediately see the brewery. A industrial front turned brewery that I have saw in many other instances i.e. Three Floyds and Sun King. The brewery has plenty of parking for its size. The tap room is conveniently attached to the brewery. Small but appropriate inside with approximately 8-10 tables a good size bar and a wall table that stretches the back of the room. The tap selection is impressive as it represents 24 total offerings 12 from Country Boy and 12 guest taps. A wide selection and great variety that it would take many trips to enjoy. I had the BA Paw Paw, Cliff Jumper and Lazy Rye, all of which were very good. The real standout was The Paw Paw, this is truely a stellar BA brew. I took a growler home that I will truely cherish. The service was super friendly and spot on to all your needs. Even when they were busy I never had to wait on a brew. Food is available from outside eateries for delivery from many options. This was a wonderful experience and I look forward to the future of this promising brewery.

I've been going to Country Boy since they opened over a year ago. If you're not familiar with the location, it's kind of hard to find and if you go when it's not that busy, you might be confused whether or not you're in the right place because the beer bar is tucked inside their brewing warehouse, rather innocuous. That being said, they're usually pretty slammed and the crowd is very diverse and friendly. The staff are always cool and accommodating. The interior is small but quaint and rustic; tables are all made of thick oak and look like they were constructed by hand while random quirks hang on the walls. They do have TV's if a game is on. Fortunately, they're in the process of building a patio out back which should add more leisure space.

They have about 20 tap offerings, half are usually their own beers and the other half are various other craft brews. They don't package at this time, nor do they carry any other bottles, although they do offer growler service. They usually sell t-shirts and pint glasses, too. They used to pump out new beers every week, but they're finally starting to whittle down to a regular rotation of a small list of beers. Their beers include low gravity, light on the palate crowd pleasers and also the occasional high gravity IPA/stout/etc. They've been doing a lot of barrel aging recently which is great. Pricing is extremely reasonable.

Country Boy doesn't offer food, but there's almost always a food truck out front and they allow outside food to be brought in or delivered. The place is super casual and fun with a beer to satisfy any type of beer drinker. If you're in town and you want a fun beer destination, Country Boy is a must-stop.

Country Boy is the place you need to try if you're ever around Lexington. When you walk in, Country Boy is a very plain, block walled room. You're attention is quickly drawn from the block walls to the many drafts they have behind the bar. Two big chalk boards border a large TV screen, and the boards display all the brews currently on tap as well as the cost and the APV. Country Boy offers many craft brews of their own as well as a few others on tap from around the region. The staff is more than happy to let you sample any brew you like, and you won't be disappointed with any flight combination you come up with. Take home a howler or a growler and you won't be upset. I took home a growler lof their Wheat/Raspberry last weekend and it only lasted a day. They don't offer any food, but they do have a lunch truck right outside the door and a list of several places in Lexington that deliver to Country Boy. This is a nice touch and combines any meal you want with a wide selection of brews. Try Country Boy, thank me later.

While pomp and circumstance maybe more focused on its bigger brethren like West 6th, BBC, or Against the Grain, the country boys down on Chair Avenue more than make up with an outstanding, eccletic selection of local brews mostly inspired by the owners' days as up and coming home brewers. From an IPA in Cliffjumper, that's as good as any on the market to pappy van winkle aged Papaw's Red..each and every recipe exudes the care and respect of the process of brewing. Bonus points go to these guys for taking a creative leap and peppering some beers with heat and others with the warm spice of winter. quality, care, freshness, combined with a friendly knowledgable staff make this place a cant miss visit for any beer lover

Hidden Gem...Literally, you have to know where you are going. Worth the search! Friendly people, good beer, I had the Chicken Brown Ale. Nice mix of people. We were their early on a Thursday and the place was half full. No food service, though they have a "taco truck" just outside the entrance.

Brew pubs are relatively new to Lexington, this is one of the first, and should stand the "test of time".

Nothing fancy or pretentious, my kind of place! This 500 minimum character rule is difficult for those of us not so wordy!

Visiting Lexington for an interview, and decided to stop by for a flight and some food. The atmosphere is very laid back with the walls being bare cinder blocks, and some beer signs hanging. Bartenders were good about taking your orders and making suggestions. There was a very large selection both from the brewery itself and other logical breweries. I had a flight with a hose, a dipa, a barrel aged imperial red, and a jalapeno beer. All were quite good. There was a good truck out front that specialized in French food so I had a cassoulet that was delicious. I would definitely come here again.

I love the aesthetics, deer heads with tiaras, grungy floors and walls, hole in the wall feeling. 25 taps, 13 originals and a ton of oddball charm, Country boy was a ton of fun. The crowd was eclectic, 70 year old next to 20 something's, a low hum of voices and no volume on the tv, thank God, I was in a Bliss.

I had a bad experience one my first go around but have been back several times since. The quality of the beers is top notch and these guys don't mind to buck convention. Knotty Pine is phenomenal and RX Strength barrel aged Stout is amongst the greatest beers I've ever had.

My wife and I stopped by the tap room while staying at a hotel nearby.

The building is by UK but tucked out of the way in an industrial area. The interior is simple but has a nice feel to it. I think they did a great job balancing costs and comfort. The bar provides a great foundation to the room with a corrugated steel front and a heavy butcher block top.

The selection was fantastic. They had about 24 on tap with 12 of their own and 12 guests. We had their Fulcan-A IPA, their Cliff Jumper IPA, Three Floyds Alpha King and Cumberland Citra IPA. They were all good.

Country Boy has a great tap room, a cool logo and some good beer. I think these guys are really onto something.

A: Country Boy Brewing, located in a renovated industrial space adjacent to Gordon's Steel Co. on Chair Ave., has an odd, unique atmosphere that perfectly fits its locale. The gritty setting of the structure meshes well with the simple, rustic interior, effortlessly merging urban and rural. The simple space is filled with dark wood tables and chairs. Beers available are announced by a series of chalkboards scattered about the room. A lone wide-screen television hangs above the bar, and is usually tuned into a sports network. A jukebox sits in the corner. One of the brewers works the bar, while other brewhouse employees zip in and out.

Q: Country Boy Brewing specializes in local and regional brews, of course, with an emphasis on its own products. The beers offered are typically local and regional, all coming from within a day's drive of Lexington. In addition to a respectable number of Country Boy's own high quality offerings, regional favorites from Alltech's Lexington Brewing, Schlafly, Bell's, and Great Lakes are almost always on-tap. The beers selected always represent a mixture of local and regional favorites, as well as limited specialty offerings, and the quality of each selection is always extremely high.

S: The service is prompt and discreet, and always extremely courteous and friendly. The guy behind the bar is always willing to banter with customers, answer questions, and make recommendations. If you go in on a slow day, expect to be asked for your opinion on whatever you're drinking. The laid-back, good-natured attitude that permeates this clean, austere space makes it a great place to spend an afternoon or evening.

S: As mentioned earlier, Country Boy Brewing presents a a number of local and regional options, with an understandable emphasis on the brewery's own products. If I recall correctly, there are twenty four taps in the taproom, with most of them being dedicated to the brewery's specialties. Some may find that a bit limiting, but honestly, the brewery's range is so diverse that if one can't find what one is looking for, then one is far too picky.

F: Food is not available at the taproom, but it is my understanding that you can bring food in with you or order in (the taproom features a chalkboard with a number of options for delivery).

O: Spending an afternoon or evening at Country Boy Brewing is a wonderful experience. Everything about this place just feels right. Here's hoping that it thrives in its current space.
