Notes & Commercial Description:

"At 7% ABV and 64 IBU’s the late hop additions contribute floral and pine aroma’s that make this Matt’s personal favourite. The hop profile is not overpowering, starting crisp and fresh and building to a mellow, bitter finish. A generous dry hop emphasizes a green hop accent with an enjoyable aroma."

appearance - most transparent copper, soapy looking head, no lacing, looks undercarbonated

smell - faint malt and even fainter floral qualities

taste - floral hops, pine, slightly bitter finish, medium malt body

mouthfeel - feels very light for 7%, slick, a bit flat

overall - the taste profile is okay but what a mess, definitely having bottling issues

Pint at Ventis Taphouse..billed as Phat Matt’s English IPA. $4.75 per imperial pint. Nice golden ,deep and clear good sized white had. Quite a deep hoppy aroma forman "English" IPA..grassy,herbal. Again the taste is very agressivly hopped for the purported style but a pleasing Oregon IPA deep resiny, herbal hoppiness plus a good caramel malt back. I found this less "dank" then the regular PNW so maybe this should have been billed as a NEW England IPA. If you ignore the billing the mouth-feel was excellent Overall a good IPA but please this is not English style

A - Body pours medium thick with a foamy one inch head that dwindles down after a couple sips to a fine layer. Lacing, very thin and spotty. Translucent copper.

S - Soapy, very mild hop profile.

T - Tiny bit sweet one the first sip, bready, faint biscuit. Nothing really pops just some hop flower profile, piney.

M - Odd puffy/stingy carbonation. not much body at all. Pretty lackluster experience.

O- Not feeling it. It is priced low at 3.79 but so are other killer IPA's. Not hitting the mark for me. Moving on..

Glass: Nonic pint glass

Appearance: Brown with yellow highlights, frothy rocky head.

Smell: caramel malts and that's really all that's present.

Taste: Sweet and malty, Citrus grapefruit like hops flavor, followed by a really strong sharp bitter finish. The finish of this was way too strong and almost felt like my taste buds were being stripped from my tongue.

Mouthfeel: Thick and full bodied.

Not a bad beer in flavor but after I drank the entire glass my tongue felt as though I had just eaten 20 or so warhead sour candies.
