Light whiskey brown in color. Forms a smallish off white head. Reduces down to a spotty surface coating. Light lacing. Pleasant aroma. Light sweetness. Grapes, floral, madly vinous. Moderate oakiness. Taste is similar, though the vinous quality is more apparent. Light pale malts, white wine, light grapiness. Oak. Neither dry nor sweet. Moderate drying astringency on the back end. Overall, decent, but not sure this beer was big enough to take the barrel aging.

A- golden, clear, persistent ring of white bubbles

S- fruity pineapple with some movie theater popcorn, a bit like some Chardonnays.

T/M- buttery, dry, lightly tart, moderate carbonation, just a touch of hoppy bitterness in the mix.

O- a very different beer. Wine like in its dryness and diacetyl but still enjoyable as a saison.

Thanks, quirkzoo!

A murky, hazy dark blonde or light orange with a moderately-sized off-white head. Decent retention and minimal lacing.

The chardonnay is more than present in the nose. If given this blind, I'd immediately say, "Chardonnay" or, more simply, "White wine." The grape and barrel influence is dominant, though when concentrating, there are other sweet elements at play as well: toffee and mild Belgian yeast presence.

The flavor is similar to the aroma, with white wine and barrel character leading the way, along with some graham cracker and toffee sweetness, and a very mild Belgian yeast character.

Medium bodied with moderate carbonation. Slightly creamy for the style. Nice.

An interesting and fairly drinkable white wine barrel-aged saison, though the sweetness hurts it somewhat. I'd prefer it to be more dry.

750 ml bottle into a tulip glass.

Pours a hazy straw color, three finger head with an average pour, lots of foamy cling. Smell brings lots of Belgian yeast and white wine, light malt, some black pepper, little bit of funk. Taste follows the nose with the yeast, a little less wine but it's still substantial. Also malt, a little oak, lemon, a tartness overall. Very dry and refreshing, solid body, well carbonated.

Really liked this one. Lots of wine in the aroma and taste, but not overbearing. Strong saison base. Well worth a purchase.
