12 oz. can poured into mug
(Feb. 2, 2015 born-on date ... I think ... sticker on 6-pack ring reads "Feb 2")

L: copper indeed ... it's orange-amber-gold has a burnt orange quality to it; tan head of foam rises just 1/4- to 1/3 inch with little sticking, but it's keeping a perfect collar; light easily passes through brew, but it's pretty murky in the vast middle -- maybe 60/40 clear to opaque; no lacing

S: sour grain, muted malt ... a little creamed corn (?) ... the malt at times has a nice bread quality to it; the grain/sour grain is actually pretty nice; slight hint of bread

T: good play back-n-forth from a toasted malt sweetness and a bitter hoppy bite of earth and black pepper ... and even at times a pinch of grass; very California common like with the solid presence of both malt and hops; the grain flavor at times takes on a slight creamed corn quality, but it's very slight; boy, the toasted note is running the hops in an almost toasted-hop flavor ... very nice; just a hair medicinal on bigger swallows ... alcohol is there

F: great carbonation, decent midweight

O: I first had this brew on-tap in Houston almost a year ago, and I REALLY liked it ... great bitter hop bite with a decent malt sweetness; but over time I'd swear it's becoming more and more "mushy" -- taking on the hints of creamed corn with almost a caramel sneaking in that wasn't there the first time I tried it. could be my tastes buds are changing, and I must admit, those mushier creamed corn notes don't play often.

It's a good brew, again very in the California common vein ... or a hoppier Vienna lager if you prefer, and an easy go-to brew when out and about and any doubt creeps in. the grain bomb quality gets going more and more as it warms, and I love that. has an almost lager-like dryness to that has me reaching for it over and over and over ...

On tap at Onion Creek.

The beer pours a copper color with a white head. The aroma is very malty with a lot of toffee and caramel notes. The flavor is more of the same, with some large toffee notes. I also get a little bit of grass and some caramel malt, but this thing is a toffee bomb. Easy to drink and refreshing. Thin to medium mouthfeel and medium carbonation.

I only got to try 5oz of this stuff as part of a flight of 5 Texas beers for $10. Served on tap at the Flying Saucer Beer Emporium in downtown Houston, Texas.

Nice, clear, copper color with a 1-finger white head that lasted about a minute. Minimal lacing.

Weak nose with just a faint hint of caramel malt.

The flavor was more toffee-like than caramel-like, with a good amount of bittering hops. Hoppier than most red ales.

Light bodied with only moderate carbonation.

Nothing remarkable, but very drinkable.

12 oz can is overcarbonated with large-bubbled white head taking up the majority of the glass. Expectedly sticks around quite some time.

Nose is a light toffee and some mildly fruity yeast. CO2 aromas abound with a little bit of floral hops.

Taste is a pleasant blend of caramel and leafy hops. The overcarbonation is a bit of a bummer, but this is not a bad little flagship amber that is easy to drink and has some interesting flavors. I wouldnt be opposed to drinking this again, would make a good offering at a ballgame...ahem Minute Maid, Toyota Center and NRG Stadium.
